The Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> have announced that forward Dominik Kahun<\/a><\/strong> has suffered a concussion. Kahun has been put into the concussion protocol, and he will be out indefinitely. The German winger suffered a concussion during the Penguins’ most recent game on Sunday against the Boston Bruins<\/a>. Kahun left the game in the second period and did not return.<\/p>\n

Dominik Kahun Out For Pittsburgh Penguins<\/h2>\n

Dominik Kahun was never selected in the NHL Draft. After spending four seasons with Munchen in the German DEL and shining at the 2018 Olympics, the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> signed him to a two-year entry-level deal in 2018. In his rookie season, Kahun had 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points in 82 games. In the 2019 offseason, the Blackhawks traded<\/a> him to Pittsburgh in a trade sending Olli Maatta<\/a><\/strong> to Chicago.<\/p>\n

The Czech-born forward with German nationality has been a very solid addition for Pittsburgh so far. In 48 games skated, Kahun collected 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points. As of now, Kahun is on pace to exceed his rookie season numbers. The 24-year-old versatile forward has missed only one game during his short NHL career. With a concussion, he will be out for at least one game for the Penguins as we enter the All-Star break.<\/p>\n

What Does This Mean For Pittsburgh<\/h3>\n

For the Penguins, the injuries are coming fast and furious this season. With injuries to key players such as Sidney Crosby<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> Evgeni Malkin<\/strong><\/a>, Jake Guentzel<\/a><\/strong>, and Brian Dumoulin <\/strong><\/a>over the course of the season, the Penguins have been well-tested. On Sunday, Pittsburgh had to finish the contest versus the Bruins without Kahun and Dominik Simon, who picked up the Penguins\u00b4 first goal of the tilt.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, Simon will be ready to go on Tuesday, when the Penguins travel to play the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> in the rivalry game. That will be their last game prior to the bye week\/All-Star break. Kahun has been skating on the second line with Malkin and Bryan Rust<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong> The Penguins will hope that the German skater won’t be sidelined for too long.<\/p>\n
