He is a solid depth center, but don’t expect him to light up the scoresheet. He has eclipsed the 50-point mark only once in his career. That came back in the 2010-11 season where he notched 22 goals and 30 assists.

The former first round pick, 25th overall in 2006, has played in over 600 games with nearly 300 points. Not all first round picks turn out to be point producing machines, but Berglund has been a solid player for St. Louis, which fans will be happy to see him stay. A shoulder injury kept him to just 42 games last season and this year he has not seemed to have fully bounced back with 24 points in 60 games. He is on pace, however, for his highest goal total in his career with 17 now, which will be easier to accomplish as a he is staying put in St. Louis. He has depth, leadership, and experience, three ingredients a contending team like the Blues need to have.

Berglund was set to become an unrestricted free agent this off-season before signing this deal.

Main Photo.

Embed from Getty Images

The St. Louis Blues are climbing back into the playoff race, and have re-signed Patrik Berglund to a five-year, $19.25-million contact.

[34,32
37,38,721,39
post-6586","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-blues","tag-hockey","tag-nhl","tag-patrik-berglund","tag-st-louis-blues
["GET
