The Buffalo Sabres<\/a> have announced that they will miss forward Victor Olofsson<\/strong><\/a> for five to six weeks. Olofsson suffered a lower-body injury. This was during the Sabres’ most recent game at home versus the Edmonton Oilers<\/a> on Thursday. Olofsson has been enjoying a very successful rookie season in Buffalo. The Sabres made some moves on Thursday, but missing Victor Olofsson is certainly a huge blow for them.<\/p>\n

Injury Update: Victor Olofsson will be out five to six weeks with a lower-body injury.<\/p>\n

Victor Olofsson Out<\/h2>\n

Victor Olofsson was drafted by the Sabres in the seventh round of the 2011 NHL Draft as the 181st pick. After his draft, the Swedish winger spent his first five seasons with MODO Hockey in Sweden. In 2016, Olofsson joined Frolunda in the SHL. Two years later, in 2018, Olofsson signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Sabres. In his first season in North America, Olofsson collected 63 points in 66 games in the AHL with the Rochester Americans.<\/p>\n

The versatile winger made his NHL debut with Buffalo in the 2018-19 campaign. He skated in six NHL games gathering four total points. This season, Olofsson has combined for 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 42 games for the Sabres. For the former seventh-round draft selection, that’s a marvellous accomplishment.<\/p>\n

What Does This Mean For Buffalo<\/h3>\n

On Thursday, the Sabres ended their four-game losing skid against the Oilers. Olofsson had an assist on the game-tying goal by Sam Reinhart<\/strong><\/a> in the third period. Olofsson was skating on the top line with Reinhart and Jack Eichel<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong> Before the game against Edmonton, the Sabres acquired<\/a> forward Michael Frolik<\/strong><\/a> from the Calgary Flames<\/a>. That all happened after they traded defenceman<\/a> Marco Scandella<\/strong><\/a> to the Montreal Canadiens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Sabres lost Jeff Skinner<\/strong><\/a> for weeks because of an injury suffered exactly a week ago. Buffalo has to buckle up as they are five points outside of the playoff picture with 42 games played. It won’t get any easier with missing Victor Olofsson.<\/p>\n
