This season, he has four assists and six minutes in penalties. His possession numbers are 52.7 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -0.4. Those totals are worse compared to last season, where he scored three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 57 games. Over his five-year NHL career, Reilly has played for the Minnesota Wild and Montreal Canadiens. In that time, he has seven goals and 34 assists for 41 career points in 174 career games. He was originally drafted in the fourth round, 98th overall, of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Sturtz, on the other hand, has spent his entire career in the AHL, save for four ECHL games this year. He went undrafted and has appeared in 14 games with the Belleville Senators this year. In those, he has only managed two points.

What This Means for the Future

This move gives Reilly a chance to get playing time after seeing only 90 games with the Habs since being acquired in February 2018. Ottawa also adds a little bit more experience on the blue line. Reilly will look to help a Sens blue-line who had trouble scoring this season as only three of their defensemen have found the back of the net this season.

Sturtz will report to the Laval Rockets. He has a career total of 13 points through 39 AHL games.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to trade defencemen Mike Reilly to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for forward Andrew Sturtz and a fifth-round pick in 2021.
