The Predators are struggling despite being anointed as one of the Western Conference <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">favourites<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. However, Nashville is 12-10-5 and would be out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs if the postseason started today.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Predators acquired<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/duchema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Duchene<\/a><\/strong> in the off-season after sending<strong> P.K. <\/strong><\/span><strong>Subban<\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a>. Nashville was flush with <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">centres<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and some wondered what the future held for Turris. Some thought he\u2019d get slotted on a wing, but he was put in a defensive role.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, the 30-year-old didn\u2019t seem to fit into head coach <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/laviope01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Laviolette<\/a>\u2019s plans. The Predators\u2019 coach made Turris a healthy scratch for seven straight games. Turris returned to the lineup and reminded fans and management what he\u2019s capable of with a goal and an assist in the team\u2019s 3-2 overtime loss to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/lightning\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Wednesday\u2019s performance was a reminder of what the New Westminster, British Columbia native could do when he is playing at his best. There are three options the Predators have <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">now<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What to do with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/turriky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Turris<\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Play Kyle Turris<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Injuries have hit the team hard so far this season. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/arvidvi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Viktor Arvidsson<\/a><\/strong> is on injured reserve with a lower-body injury. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/granlmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mikael Granlund<\/a> <\/strong>and<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/forsbfi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Filip Forsberg<\/a> <\/strong>have also suffered through various ailments so far this season. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, it took until Wednesday for Turris to crack the lineup. He\u2019s <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">close<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to matching last year\u2019s total of seven goals as he\u2019s got five going into Saturday\u2019s game. Last season was a struggle as he got seven goals, 16 assists and 23 points in 55 games last season. Turris has five goals and six assists in just 20 games.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The forward can be a standout offensive performer as he was pivotal to Team Canada\u2019s silver medal-winning squad. Turris was the captain and put up 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 10 games. Nashville shouldn\u2019t care where the points are coming from at this stage.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sit Turris<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The veteran plays <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">centre<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, but the Predators middle seems to be set with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/johanry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Johansen<\/a>,<\/strong> Duchene, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/boninni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Bonino<\/a><\/strong> and <strong>Colton <\/strong><\/span><strong>Sissons<\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> as the four pivots. Johansen and Duchene are the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">centres<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> on the top-two lines while Bonino and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sissons<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> anchor the bottom two lines.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Some suggested that Turris plays on the wing, but he would be playing out of position. There would be worry on if Turris would get outmuscled for pucks in the corners if he were moved to a wing. Nashville did call up <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Yakov<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">Trenin<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> on Friday night and one wonders if he\u2019ll slot into the lineup or if he\u2019s there as an extra body.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Turris did play on the second line with <strong>Daniel <\/strong><\/span><strong>Carr<\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jarnkca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calle Jarnkrok<\/a><\/strong>, but one wonders how long that will last. One wonders if Laviolette will end the experiment once Arvidsson returns. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Trade Turris<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A desirable result of Turris\u2019 great game could that he makes himself more desirable to a potential suitor. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Maybe Laviolette and <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Poile<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> are showcasing Turris so a team will take a shot on him. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The $6 million price tag makes a deal a lot harder to pull off and his contract runs until the end of the 2023-24 season. That long term may also scare teams away from picking him up. It\u2019s a big commitment to a player that has been scuffling the last two seasons.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A change of location could help Turris turn into the player he once was. The relationship between the sides seems to be uneasy. Turris <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/1306596\/2019\/10\/21\/the-predators-need-to-give-a-revitalized-kyle-turris-a-fair-shake\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">deserves a fair shot<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> at making it work in the Music City. He seemed reenergized after the Word Championships and there was a lot of hope he\u2019d turn things around.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A trade or Turris fighting through his struggles to become a solid contributor would be the ideal solution for both sides.
