Each day, Last Word On Hockey will break down every game and give our NHL predictions for each game. This will also include a featured game that should be must-watch hockey. Tonight’s featured game is the Winnipeg Jets vs Dallas Stars. This is the late game slate of NHL Predictions. Be sure and check out the early games too.

NHL Predictions

Calgary Flames vs St. Louis Blues

Head-to-Head: Blues 1-0 Flames

This is the second of three matchups between the Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues. The Blues took the first one by a score of 3-2 in overtime on the Flames home ice. That loss for the Flames was the first of six in a row. Calgary is out for some revenge against the defending Stanley Cup Champions. This will not be easy as the Flames are not playing well at the moment. Their heads are clearly not on hockey, but more on T.J. Brodie, who continues to be out of the lineup. Their offence is not clicking at all and this has cost them in the standings.

The Blues are playing much better as of late. Despite a couple of losses, the Blues were able to rebound nicely against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Blues continue to find offence even without Vladimir Tarasenko in the lineup. Now Sammy Blais is out of the lineup for 10 weeks. That has forced the hand of the general manager, who signed Troy Brouwer to a new deal. There is still another gear the Blues can get to. Playing on home ice certainly helps this team. This will be a close game with the champs coming out on top.

Prediction: Blues Win 2-1

Nashville Predators vs Vancouver Canucks

Head-to-Head: Canucks 1-0 Predators

This is the second of three meetings between the Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks won the first game at Bridgestone Arena by a score of 5-3. However, both teams are struggling at the moment. The Predators are in the midst of a five-game losing streak. Their offence is nowhere to be found. The most goals they have scored over the past five games is four. Not good for a team that has Matt Duchene, Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, and others. They expected to make the playoffs and they are not even in the playoff picture as of today.

On the other side of the coin, the Canucks have won two of their last 10 games. The Canucks were one of the surprise teams to start the season. They have come back to Earth a bit. The Canucks are holding on by a thin string to the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. The talent is there with Elias Pettersson, Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser, Quinn Hughes and J.T. Miller, but how far can this talent take them. Vancouver is ahead of schedule, but this game could go either way.

Prediction: Predators 3-2 In OT

Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild

Head-to-Head: Avalanche 1-0 Wild

This is the second of four matchups between the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild. The Avalanche took the first matchup at the beginning of the season by a score of 4-2. That game came at the Pepsi Center, this game is in Minnesota. The Avalanche are wrapping up a five-game road trip. It has been a successful trip thus far. The only loss came in Edmonton, but in that game, Adam Werner started his first NHL game. Now Philipp Grubauer is back between the pipes giving the team their confidence back. Plus they are never out of any game with Nathan MacKinnon.

Prediction: Avalanche win 4-1

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Chicago Blackhawks

Head-to-Head: Lightning 0-0 Blackhawks

This is the first of two meetings between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Chicago Blackhawks. The Lightning are still trying to feel themselves this season. After a three-game winning streak, the Lightning lost their last two games. Both games were very close. It is all mental with Tampa Bay. They are still thinking about what happened last year in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Going through adversity is probably just what the doctor ordered.

The Blackhawks, on the other hand, are playing very well as of late. Chicago has won five of its last seven games. They are only two points out of the final wild-card spot. This is a big game for both teams. While Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are still putting up numbers, it is the youngsters of Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome, and Kirby Dach that are showing the fans, the future is in good hands. This has the making of a high scoring affair.

Prediction: Lightning Win 5-4

Winnipeg Jets vs Dallas Stars

Head-to-Head: Jets 1-0 Stars

This our NHL predictions featured Late game of the night.

This is the second of four matchups this season between the Winnipeg Jets and Dallas Stars. Both teams are two of the hottest teams in the NHL right now. The first game did not disappoint as it went to overtime, with the Jets getting the better of the Stars by a score of 3-2. Winnipeg is getting healthier and it shows with a 7-1-1 record over the past nine games. Most of that can be in part to Nathan Beaulieu returning to the lineup and steadying that defensive corps. It also doesn’t hurt that their star players are scoring goals too.

The Stars are 11-1-1 over their last 13 games and that can be attributed to them getting back to playing team-first defensive hockey. Early on in the streak, the Stars were not getting any points from their two big stars in Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. Their head coach had to call them out once again. In the past three games, Seguin has recorded seven points while Benn has six points. This is going to be a fun game to watch. Two highly skilled teams going head to head. The Stars hope this time, they come out with the victory.

Prediction: Jets Win 4-3 in OT

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Arizona Coyotes

Head-to-Head: Maple Leafs 0-0 Coyotes

This is the first of two matchups between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Arizona Coyotes. It is a new era with the Maple Leafs as Mike Babcock has been fired and replaced by Sheldon Keefe. This will not be an easy game for Keefe in his first game as an NHL head coach. The Coyotes are a good young team that plays well on home ice. The Maple Leafs have lost six straight games. Absolutely, something needed to change, but offensively something is not clicking. No Mitch Marner hurts, but there is still plenty of firepower to score goals. On defence is where the main concern is.

The Coyotes have won four of their last five games. Antti Raanta is a brick wall in between the pipes for the Coyotes. When Raanta needs a night off, Darcy Kuemper comes in and works his magic in the Coyotes goal. This is one of the best duos in the NHL. Arizona like other teams around the league are protecting their own end first which is leading to timely goals. Arizona will need to watch out for a Maple Leafs team that will be playing with a new spark under their new head coach. This will be a good game to watch out in the desert.

Prediction: Coyotes Win 3-2

San Jose Sharks vs Vegas Golden Knights

Head-to-Head: Golden Knights 2-0 Sharks

This is the third of four matchups between the San Jose Sharks and Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights took the first two contests. Both came at the beginning of the season in a home and home series. While the Golden Knights own the Sharks, this feels different. The Sharks have won six of their last seven contests. San Jose is showing signs of being the team everyone thought they would be at the beginning of the season. The Sharks still have work to do in the standings, but they are heading in the right direction.

The Golden Knights currently sit in third in the Pacific Division. After a five-game losing streak, the Golden Knights have won two straight. It will be difficult to stretch it to three against a team they have success against. Home ice has been good to the Golden Knights since coming into the NHL. Vegas is not the same team they were two seasons ago. While they are better on paper, there is a case to made they got slower. However, with Marc-Andre Fleury in between the pipes, the Golden Knights have a chance to win every game.

Prediction: Sharks Win 4-3

This does it for NHL Predictions for November 21st, check back tomorrow for another edition.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Welcome to NHL Predictions!
