TJ Brodie Collapses<\/h2>\n

The Calgary Flames<\/a> have announced that defenceman T.J. Brodie<\/a><\/strong> is in hospital and responsive after he collapsed at practice today.<\/p>\n

In 21 games this season, Brodie has scored eight assists to go along with 14 minutes in penalties. Those eight points make him the second-highest scorer for the Flames defence. His possession numbers were 54 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 2.4.<\/p>\n

Over his 10-year NHL career, Brodie has only played for the Calgary Flames. He has 44 goals and 211 assists for 255 career points in 591 career games. An original draft pick of the Flames, he was selected in the fourth round, 114th overall in the 2008 NHL draft.<\/p>\n

What This Means for the Future<\/h3>\n

Brodie is an important piece for the Flames, playing over 19 minutes per game. His health will be closely monitored, but how long he will remain out is unknown. The next games Calgary plays won’t be until this weekend, so more information should be available before then. At this point, all the team and Brodie can do is wait and see how things progress. There’s always precautions to ensure a player is fully recovered before they get into action again. Every player yearns to get back on the ice, but doing it too soon can cause issues.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, whatever ails him is not an ongoing condition and he will be able to resume skating before long.<\/p>\n
