During Tuesday night’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, DeBrusk sustained his injury. It is unknown when in the game the injury occurred, however, he did not play through it. DeBrusk woke up Wednesday morning he did not feel well. He didn’t practice on Thursday and head coach Bruce Cassidy ruled him out for Friday night’s game against the Red Wings.

DeBrusk was off to slow start but was rolling as of late. In his past eight games, he had three goals and two assists. DeBrusk had been playing on the second line averaging 16:14 of ice time this season.

Going Forward

The Bruins pride themselves on having depth in their organization. That depth continues to step up in a big way. After coming up from the AHL on Tuesday, Zach Senyshyn notched two assists in his NHL debut with the Bruins. Senyshyn is working well playing with Charlie Coyle and Anders Bjork. It would be wise for the Bruins to keep that line together. Even though Senyshyn went back down to the AHL as a paper transaction, he will be in the lineup against the Red Wings.

The Bruins also recalled Peter Cehlarik from Providence of the AHL. Cehlarik will get a chance on the second line with David Krejci and Danton Heinen.

Along with DeBrusk, the Bruins remain without David Backes, Joakim Nordstrom, and Par Lindholm. The latter two are on injured reserve. Cassidy indicated that Nordstrom is the closet to returning to the lineup. So that is a positive sign for the Bruins, for a team that continues to find ways to win despite all their injuries.

TORONTO, ON – APRIL 15: Jake DeBrusk #74 of the Boston Bruins waits for a faceoff against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game Three of the Eastern Conference First Round during the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Scotiabank Arena on April 15, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
