Steen needed help from trainer Ray Barile and teammate Colton Parayko to get off the ice. The injury was bad enough as the team ruled Steen out for the rest of the game. After the game, head coach Craig Berube did not have an update on Steen’s condition. However, it has now been updated that Steen will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

This is not the first lower-body injury Steen sustained this season. He left a game against the Detroit Red Wings back on Sunday, October 27th. He was able to return to the lineup quickly as the Blues had back to back days off before taking on the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday, October 30th. Steen is off to a slow start this season registering just five points in 16 games.

Going Forward

Last season Steen embraced the role of being a fourth-line player. Alongside Ivan Barbashev and Oskar Sundqvist, they formed one of the best fourth lines in the NHL. This line was instrumental in helping the Blues capture the Stanley Cup last season. This season, Steen moved up to the third line playing with Tyler Bozak and Sammy Blais. Now the Blues have a void to fill.

However, if Steen is going to miss significant time, the Blues had a backup plan in place. The team traded for Jacob de La Rose from the Red Wings for Robby Fabbri. This trade was announced soon after the game was over indicating the news may not be good surrounding the health of Steen.

The Blues have two days off before their next game Saturday night against the Calgary Flames. If Steen can’t play, then look for De La Rose to take his spot in the lineup.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The St. Louis Blues announced that during Wednesday night’s game against the Edmonton Oilers Alex Steen suffered a lower-body injury.

[32,6671,34
384,95,1873,1015,39
post-60865","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blues","category-injuries","category-news","tag-alexander-steen","tag-detroit-red-wings","tag-jacob-de-la-rose","tag-robby-fabbri","tag-st-louis-blues
["GET
