Before his exit against the Rangers, Lindholm only logged 7:04 of ice time. His placement on IR is retroactive to October 28th and will miss his fourth straight as the Bruins take on the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Lindholm is eligible to return whenever he is deemed fit to play. In seven games this season, Lindholm has just one goal averaging just over 11 minutes of ice time.

With Lindholm going on IR, the Bruins recalled Zach Senyshyn from the Providence Bruins of the AHL. Since being drafted in the first round (15th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft, Senyshyn has spent most of his career in the minors. However, not the first rodeo for Senyshyn as he played two games with the Bruins last season. He recorded his first career NHL goal in his NHL debut on April 4 against the Minnesota Wild.

Going Forward

With the Bruins playing on back-to-back nights, all signs point to Senyshyn getting into the lineup against the Canadiens. In 12 games this season with Providence, he has three points (two goals and one assist). Although his numbers are not where people expect them to be, Senyshyn was dealing with an injury to begin the season. He has been excellent for the Providence Bruins as of late. Being hard on pucks, good on the forecheck, and playing in all situations.

One thing the Bruins pride themselves on is having depth in their organization. With Marcus Johansson and Noel Acciari leaving voids to fill in the lineup, players like Lindholm and Brett Ritchie were signed for depth. Those players had stiff competition in Senyshyn, who came into camp with a newfound confidence in his ability to play.

Going forward, once Lindholm gets back, he could find it hard to get back into the lineup. In fact, he could find himself going to Providence of the AHL given the emergence of players like Anders Bjork competing for time with the big club.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced today that forward Par Lindholm was placed on injured reserve.
