Today\u2019s NHL <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rumours<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> focus on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/jets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a> and some coaches that may be in trouble.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">All NHL <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rumours<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> are taken from the original source and are subject to change.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>NHL Rumours<\/h2>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">New Jersey Devils<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Rumour: Chris Johnston reported during Saturday night\u2019s Hockey Night in Canada Headlines segment that <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=hallta02,hallta01&amp;search=Taylor+Hall&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taylor Hall<\/a><\/strong> and Devils\u2019 general manager Ray Shero will meet when the team when it heads to Calgary later this week. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Hall is an unrestricted free agent and is looking for a big payday with his next contract. He currently making $6 million and he\u2019ll fetch a lot more. His name has been tossed around plenty in the rumour mill over the last few months as many teams are trying to make his next contract fit under the cap.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/FriedgeHNIC\/status\/1190800764748390401<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Analysis: The Devils are currently in last in the Metropolitan Division with 10 points after many thought they\u2019d be a sleeper playoff pick. New Jersey did try to<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/11\/01\/tampa-bay-lightning-trade-louis-domingue\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> shore up the <\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">defence<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> by adding <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dominlo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Louis Domingue<\/a> <\/strong>from the<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/lightning\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a>. The price tag would be a big one for the former Hart Trophy winner.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\"> This week&#8217;s meeting could be critical in taking one of the biggest free agent names off the market.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Winnipeg Jets<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Rumour: Elliotte Friedman on HNIC\u2019s Headlines segment said the Jets and defenceman <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/byfugdu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dustin Byfuglien<\/a> <\/strong>will likely go to arbitration. Friedman said that things between the two sides have become \u201cemotional\u201d and \u201cheated.\u201d \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Byfuglien recently had ankle surgery and discovered a broken bone in his foot. The Jets suspended him at the beginning of the season and the Minnesota native mulled retirement at the beginning of the season.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Analysis: Things look to be contentious between the two sides as arbitration looms. Winnipeg contends that the veteran <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">defenceman<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> didn\u2019t let the club know that he was injured. They said he was deemed fit during that team\u2019s exit physicals. However, Byfuglien\u2019s representatives contend that he planned to play after being injured in the post-season but couldn\u2019t make a go of it.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has been very guarded regarding his comments regarding the situation. Byfuglien has already missed out on around $1.4 million this season and he would be due another $6 million for next year.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">After this is settled, what would Byfuglien\u2019s status be with the team? Would he want to come back and would the Jets have him back? Winnipeg\u2019s <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">defence<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> has struggled through injuries this season and he would be a steadying force if healthy. Despite his age, he\u2019d probably have a few suitors should the Jets try to deal him.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Coaching Deals<\/h2>\n<p><em>Rumour: Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic (<a href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/1343346\/2019\/11\/01\/lebrun-coaches-who-could-soon-be-free-agents-plus-how-the-concussion-protocol-played-out-with-carey-price\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">subscription required<\/a>) talked about potential coaches that could be on the move. He listed Jeff Blashill, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/boudrbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bruce Boudreau<\/a>, Paul Maurice as coaches working on expiring deals while Peter DeBoer of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/sharks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Jose Sharks<\/a> could be in trouble if the team underperforms.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">On the three head coaches who could be free agents at the end of the season, plus re-visiting the Carey Price protocol situation from Wednesday night. He has a backup clause where he\u2019s got two more seasons to be a consultant. Maurice is in the last year of his deal with the Jets with no extra bells and whistles.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>San Jose general manager <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/wilsodo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doug Wilson<\/a> has never fired any coach during the season as he\u2019s let <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=wilsoro02,wilsoro03&amp;search=Ron+Wilson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ron Wilson<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mclelto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Todd McLellan<\/a> go at the end of seasons.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Analysis: Detroit general manager <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/y\/yzermst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Yzerman<\/a> and Minnesota GM <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gueribi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bill Guerin<\/a> will likely use this season to know what personnel they have. Both clubs have long <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rebuilds<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> ahead of them and need to take stock of what they have. Yzerman has never rushed into decisions during his GM stint with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Guerin is likely going to be pragmatic in his first big gig.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Blashhill, Boudreau, Maurice and DeBoer<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Maurice and Boudreau are both respected coaches that would likely have a new gig soon. Winnipeg has basically been built from scratch and Maurice has been a big part of the team\u2019s success. Maurice has been great at nurturing talent and has dealt with a salary cap crunch. Getting rid of him would seem harsh.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Boudreau has had to deal with the fallout of bad decisions of Chuck Fletcher and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fentopa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul Fenton<\/a>. He\u2019s always been a coach that\u2019s maximized his talent. <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">San Jose was thought to be a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">contender but<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> has underperformed.
