The New York Rangers<\/a> announced that goalie Henrik Lundqvist<\/a><\/strong> is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.<\/p>\n

UPDATE: Mika and Henrik will not practice today (upper body); both are day-to-day.<\/p>\n

Henrik Lundqvist Day-To-Day<\/h2>\n

Lundqvist missed practice on Monday ahead of the Rangers matchup Tuesday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a>. He started Sunday night against the Boston Bruins<\/a> and did not finish the game. Lundqvist surrounded four goals on 31 shots and did not start the third period. Nobody knows exactly where the injury occurred, but Lundqvist did have a collision early on in the second period. Through six games this season Lundqvist has a 3.58 GAA and .906 save percentage giving up at least four goals in half of his starts. Head coach David Quinn<\/strong> told reporters that Lundqvist was given a maintenance day and is expected to be fine.<\/p>\n

David Quinn thinks Jesper Fast will play tomorrow. Not so sure about Mika. Said he\u2019s going to talk to Jeff Gorton this afternoon about whether they need to call someone up.<\/p>\n

Also, more maintenance for Hank today. He\u2019s fine, but Georgiev plays tomorrow. #NYR<\/a><\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/h3>\n

With Lundqvist not starting against the Lightning, it gives him more time to fully recover before going back in the crease. Alexandar Georgiev<\/a><\/strong> will get the start for the Rangers Tuesday night. This season the Rangers are working Georgiev into the rotation more with Lundqvist being 37-years-old. This season Georgiev has a 1-2-1 record this year with a 3.03 GAA and .913 save percentage.<\/p>\n

The Rangers are getting some good news on the injury front as well. Jesper Fast<\/a><\/strong>, who missed practiced dealing with a personal issue, is expected to play on Tuesday. Fast has earned top-line minutes this season and has recorded five points in eight games. However, if he remains out of the lineup look for Kaapo Kakko<\/a><\/strong> and Pavel Buchnevich<\/a><\/strong> to remain on the top-six lines.<\/p>\n

However, there is some uncertainty surrounding Mika Zibanejad<\/a><\/strong>. The Rangers had listed him<\/a> as day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Zibanejad was feeling better today, and there was a possibility he will suit up tomorrow. That is something the team will discuss along with calling a player up.<\/p>\n
