New York Islanders<\/a> general manager Lou Lamoriello<\/strong> announced Sunday morning that both Matt Martin<\/a><\/strong> and Tom Kuhnhackl<\/a><\/strong> are out 4-6 weeks.<\/p>\n

Martin and Kuhnhackl Out Injured<\/h2>\n

During the Islanders’ morning skate, Lamoriello addressed the media to discuss the injuries surrounding the team. First, Martin is dealing with an undisclosed injury that will keep him out of the lineup 4 to 6 weeks. There is no word about how Martin got the injury or what he is dealing with, even though he was able to play in the game Friday night against the Ottawa Senators.<\/a><\/p>\n

Kuhnhackl is dealing with a lower-body injury that he picked up during the team’s game against the Senators on Friday night. Kuhnhackl went awkwardly into the boards in the first period. He needed help getting from the ice to the locker room and was ruled out before to the start of the second period.<\/p>\n

Going Forward<\/h3>\n

With their forward group being stretched thin, the Islanders are still finding ways to win hockey games. The club is currently on a six-game winning streak, after starting the season 1-3. However, their depth will certainly be tested moving forward. Add these players to a long list of players who are already injured. Leo Komarov<\/a><\/strong> (illness) is still day-to-day<\/a>. Jordan Eberle<\/a><\/strong> (lower-body) has started skating on his own. Andrew Ladd<\/a><\/strong> (knee) is still on track for a late-November return<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rookie Oliver Wahlstrom<\/a>, Ross Johnston<\/a><\/strong>, and Michael Dal Colle<\/a><\/strong> will all draw into the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>. Dal Colle skating with Casey Cizikas<\/a><\/strong> and Cal Clutterbuck<\/a><\/strong> this morning. While Johnston with Cole Bardreau<\/a><\/strong> and Wahlstrom.<\/p>\n

The Islanders are hoping the best-case scenario for Martin and Kuhnhackl is a return in four weeks to the lineup as their bench is already short enough as it is.<\/p>\n
