Turris\u2019 first full season with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nashville Predators<\/a> was plagued with injuries and ineffective play. He was supposed to be the second-line <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">centre<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> that would provide depth and back up the \u201cJoFA\u201d line of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/johanry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Johansen<\/a><\/strong>,<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/forsbfi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Filip Forsberg<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/arvidvi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Viktor Arvidsson<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, the New Westminster, British Columbia native never got off the blocks and only provided seven goals and 16 assists in 55 regular season games. He did add a goal and an assist in the Predators\u2019 six playoff games in their opening-round loss to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/stars\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dallas Stars.<\/a> Turris played well for Team Canada at the IIHF World Championships. He had four goals and six assists in 10 games. Canada picked up the silver medal in Slovakia thanks to the efforts of Turris.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Nashville general manager <strong>David Poile<\/strong> addressed the second pivot question by signing <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/duchema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Duchene<\/a><\/strong> in free agency. Duchene is a fine addition to the team, but that brought up the question of where would Turris end up playing. However, the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">JoFA<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> line will likely stay together once the regular season starts. The Puck Drop Preview had Turris on the right wing. It was centered by Duchene and had <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/granlmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mikael Granlund<\/a><\/strong> on the left side.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Duchene <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontheforecheck.com\/2019\/6\/27\/18744472\/analytical-comparison-matt-duchene-nashville-predators-centers-ryan-johansen-kyle-turris-nick-bonino\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">brings consistent production<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> across the board (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/evolving-hockey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">stats provided by Evolving Hockey<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">) with 1.02 goals per 60 minutes played and led every category of team\u2019s <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">centres<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> from the 2017 to 2019 seasons. He\u2019s also one of the best faceoff men in the league at 55.3 percent while Turris won 50.8 percent of draws. Turris does do better on the power play metrics with goals per 60 (Turris has 2.25 to Duchene\u2019s 2.08), primary assists per 60 min. (1.43 to 1.34) and shooting percentage (29.0 percent to 22.6).<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Laviolette shuffled the lines as what often happens in the pre-season and Turris <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/predators\/news\/ekholm-rinne-lead-preds-to-victory-over-hurricanes\/c-309479990\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">did assist on<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/smithcr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Craig Smith<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s power-play goal. Our preview had Bonino anchoring a line with Smith and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jarnkca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calle Jarnkrok<\/a><\/strong>. Turris on the third line would give him <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naturalstattrick.com\/playerteams.php?fromseason=20172018&amp;thruseason=20182019&amp;stype=2&amp;sit=5v5&amp;score=all&amp;stdoi=oi&amp;rate=n&amp;team=ALL&amp;pos=F&amp;loc=B&amp;toi=1000&amp;gpfilt=none&amp;fd=&amp;td=&amp;tgp=410&amp;lines=single&amp;draftteam=ALL\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">even more protection<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. However, that line has impeccable chemistry and will likely be together barring injury. He will get every chance to prove himself. There will spot for him on the club. Nashville got goals from multiple players when it made its run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2017.
