News emerged on Tuesday that Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> centre Auston Matthews<\/a><\/strong> is facing a disorderly conduct charge in his hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona, concerning an incident that allegedly occurred in the spring.<\/p>\n

According to a complaint, filed with Scottsdale Police on May 28, 2019; it is alleged that Matthews had an incident with a security guard in the early morning hours of May 26th. Matthews was allegedly drunk at the time.<\/p>\n

Auston Matthews Charged<\/h2>\n

The Leafs acknowledged the charges in a statement provided to the media.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Toronto Maple Leafs are aware of the complaint of disturbing the peace against forward Auston Matthews. Auston is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities but neither he nor the Club will comment any further out of respect for the process involved.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The Police Report<\/h3>\n

The Report was filed based on a report by security guard Fayola Dozithee. She told police that on May 26th at approximately 2:00 am, she was in her locked car outside the condo building where Matthews lives. At this time she noticed that someone was trying to open her car door.<\/p>\n

She \u201cjumped out of her vehicle to find out who was trying to get in her car … and noticed it was Auston and his friends,\u201d reads the police report, which was obtained by the Toronto Star<\/a>. \u201cShe confronted them and the response from Auston was they wanted to see what she would do and they believed it would be funny to see how she would respond. Fayola found this very disturbing and put her on edge.<\/p>\n

\u201cFayola said she\u2019d told Auston and his friends, \u2018I am a female, I am a military vet with sever (sic) PTSD.\u2019 She also told them it wasn\u2019t funny and how could they think it would be funny to try and get in a female\u2019s vehicle at 2 a.m. in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

She told police Matthews and his friends appeared to be drunk.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe continued to say that Auston would say that he thought it was funny. Fayola said she then began to tell them to just leave.\u201d<\/p>\n
