He scored on former teammate and current Florida Panthers goalie <strong>Roberto Luongo<\/strong>, who\u00a0congratulated him after the\u00a0goal. The Canucks would go on to win the game 2-1 on a third period goal from <strong>Luca Sbisa<\/strong>. Henrik was awarded the first star of the game for his goal.<\/p>\n<p>He reached the 1000 point mark in 1213 career games, with 233 goals and 767 assists.<\/p>\n<h2>Henrik Sedin reaches 1,000 career points<\/h2>\n<p>Henrik was drafted third overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. His twin brother Daniel was selected one pick earlier. Before being drafted into the NHL, he and his twin brother Daniel competed in the Swedish Elite League for Modo, and continued there for one more season after the draft. In total they would play for Modo from 1997 to 2000. Henrik became the 13th captain of the Vancouver Canucks on October 9th, 2010.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Awards and International Competition<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Henrik was awarded the Art Ross Trophy after the 2009-10 season\u00a0for leading the league in points. He also\u00a0won the Hart Memorial Trophy as\u00a0the NHL&#8217;s regular season MVP. He was also a member of the NHL First All-Star Team for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. Henrik has won\u00a0the Cyrus H. McLean Trophy three times (2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10) for leading the Canucks in points, and the Cyclone Taylor Award in 2010 as the team&#8217;s MVP. The Summer after the 2010-11 season, he and his twin brother Daniel were awarded the Victoria Scholarship for being the Swedish athletes of the year.<\/p>\n<p>On the International Stage, Henrik\u00a0has competed\u00a0for Sweden. When he was younger, Henrik competed in three World Junior and two European Junior championships. He also competed in a World U17 Hockey Challenge, where he won a silver medal. Henrik has played in five IIHF World Championships winning bronze in 1999 and 2001 while\u00a0winning the title in 2013.
