As we go through the Summer of 2019 LWOH will be featuring a team-by-team look at the top prospects in the NHL. We will be following the order of the first round of the NHL draft (as if there were no traded draft picks) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019-top-shelf-prospects\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">you can find all the articles here<\/a>.\u00a0 Since we had an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019-nhl-entry-draft-headquarters\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">extensive NHL Draft preview<\/a>, we will not be reviewing the players who were drafted in the 2019 draft, as there have been no games since then, and our reports on them will not have changed. Today, we look at the 2019 Organizational Prospect Rankings.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-13542 td-animation-stack-type0-2\" src=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2017\/07\/Top-Shelf-Prospects.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"107\"><em>What we will be doing is linking you to those articles, as well as taking a look at prospects that were acquired before this year\u2019s draft; their progress, and their chances of making the 2019-20 roster of the NHL team in question. We will also bring you one sleeper pick \u2013 a player who was either drafted in the 4th-round or later, or was an undrafted free agent signing who we pick as our dark horse to make the NHL. For those wondering, the cut-off for what is or isn\u2019t a prospect is 50 NHL games played (including playoff games) or 25 years old.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>2019 Organizational Prospect Rankings (20-11)<\/h2>\n<p>After going through the top 10 prospects of every team in the NHL and giving full scouting reports, we will now be ranking each team\u2019s prospect pools.<\/p>\n<p>Note: If you click on the team name, you will get a link to a full prospect report on that team. \u00a0The snippets here are just a taste of the information available.<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/09\/19\/2019-organizational-prospect-rankings-31-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">For Teams 31-21 of the 2019 Organizational Prospect Rankings you can click here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">.<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>20.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/09\/10\/tampa-bay-lightning-prospects-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Lightning prospect group is led by a pair of brothers in <strong>Cal Foote<\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/05\/04\/nolan-foote-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Nolan Foote<\/strong><\/a>. They also have the AHL Rookie of the Year and goals leader in <strong>Alex Barre-Boulet<\/strong>. Tying Boulet in goals and leading the league in points was <strong>Carter Verhaeghe<\/strong>. Meanwhile, <strong>Taylor Raddysh<\/strong> and <strong>Alex Volkov<\/strong> are also talented forwards as the rich get richer.<\/p>\n<h3>19.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/08\/11\/arizona-coyotes-prospects\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arizona Coyotes<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Centres <strong>Barrett Hayton<\/strong> and <strong>Jan Jenik<\/strong> combine with winger <strong>Nick Merkley<\/strong> to give the Coyotes a strong trio of forwards. There is depth in the system on the blue line, where Arizona added first-round pick <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/04\/11\/victor-soderstrom-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victor Soderstrom<\/a><\/strong>, to a group including <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/capobky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Capobianco<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Kevin Bahl<\/strong>, <strong>Ty Emberson<\/strong> and <strong>Cam Dineen<\/strong>. In net, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hillad01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adin Hill<\/a><\/strong> could be the team&#8217;s goalie of the future.<\/p>\n<h3>18.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/09\/15\/tsp-st-louis-blues-prospects-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">St. Louis Blues<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Blues have slowly introduced their top prospects into the team in recent years. They still have more on the way. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kyroujo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jordan Kyrou<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong>Dominik Bokk<\/strong> are high-end prospects on the wing. Further down the depth chart is <strong>Klim Kostin<\/strong>. Defenders <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/reinkmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mitch Reinke<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Scott Perunovich<\/strong>, and <strong>Nikko Mikkola<\/strong> are also pushing for spots on the team. <strong>Ville Husso<\/strong> had a down year, but remains a top goalie prospect.<\/p>\n<h3>17.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/08\/05\/florida-panthers-prospects-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Florida Panthers<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Panthers drafted top goaltending prospect <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockeyprospects.com\/2019\/04\/20\/spencer-knight-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Spencer Knight<\/strong><\/a> in the first round. 2017 tenth-overall pick <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tippeow01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Owen Tippett<\/a><\/strong> is pushing for a spot on the roster. Forwards <strong>Aleksi Heponiemi<\/strong> and <strong>Grigori Denisenko<\/strong> are undersized but immensely talented. On the other end of the spectrum, <strong>Serron Noel<\/strong> gives them a power forward prospect. The defence is a little thin but added <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/05\/17\/vladislav-kolyachonok-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vladislav Kolyachonok<\/a><\/strong> in the second round. <strong>Maxwell Gildon<\/strong> is advancing through the college ranks.<\/p>\n<h3>16.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/09\/02\/new-york-islanders-prospects-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York Islanders<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Noah Dobson\u00a0<\/strong>was the best defenceman in junior hockey and won a Memorial Cup for the second year in a row. He joins a strong group on the blue line that also includes <strong>Bode Wilde<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=ahose01,ahose02&amp;search=Sebastian+Aho&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sebastian Aho<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong>Mitchell Vande Sompel<\/strong>.\u00a0Goaltender <strong>Ilya Sorokin<\/strong> is one of the top goalies in the KHL. The Islanders hope to bring him over next year. Wingers <strong>Kieffer Bellows<\/strong>, <strong>Oliver Wahlstrom<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dalcomi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Dal Colle<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Otto Koivula<\/strong>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/05\/18\/simon-holmstrom-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Simon Holmstrom<\/strong><\/a> provide real depth. The team could use a high-end centre prospect.<\/p>\n<h3>15.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/07\/24\/buffalo-sabres-prospects-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buffalo Sabres<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Sabres had yet another high pick and added a talented forward in <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/07\/15\/buffalo-sabres-sign-dylan-cozens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Dylan Cozens<\/strong><\/a>. He is versatile enough to play either centre or wing. Winger <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/olofsvi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victor Olofsson<\/a><\/strong> had a strong year and is close to NHL ready. Centres <strong>Rasmus Asplund<\/strong> and <strong>Marcus Davidsson<\/strong> play strong two-way games. The team has real depth on defence with <strong>Mattias Samuelsson<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jokihhe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Henri Jokiharju<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/05\/02\/ryan-johnson-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Johnson<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong>Will Borgen<\/strong>. They also have CHL Goaltender of the Year <strong>Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>14.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/07\/21\/ottawa-senators-prospects-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ottawa Senators<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Senators have depth at all positions. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bathedr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drake Batherson<\/a><\/strong> had a huge AHL season and a strong NHL debut last year. He is joined on the wing by speedster <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/formeal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Formenton<\/a><\/strong>, Latvian <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/balceru01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rudolfs Balcers<\/a><\/strong>, and Russian <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/abramvi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vitaly Abramov<\/a><\/strong>. Centres <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brownlo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Logan Brown<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Josh Norris<\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chlapfi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Filip Chlapik<\/a><\/strong> are also key pieces. Defender <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/branner01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Erik Brannstrom<\/a><\/strong> could be part of the Senators power play this year. Newly drafted <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/05\/13\/lassi-thomson-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Lassi Thomson<\/strong><\/a> and last year&#8217;s picks <strong>Jacob Bernard-Docker<\/strong>, and <strong>Jonny Tychonick<\/strong>. The Senators have a deep goaltending group that included <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/daccojo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joey Daccord<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Filip Gustavsson<\/strong>, <strong>Kevin Mandolese<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hogbema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcus Hogberg<\/a><\/strong>. The main critique is the lack of a true elite prospect. While there is depth at all positions and Batherson, Brannstrom and Brown are all seen as very good prospects, beyond that top three, the remainder of the group have question marks and are seen as depth pieces.<\/p>\n<h3>13.) <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/07\/23\/detroit-red-wings-prospects-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Detroit Red Wings<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zadinfi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Filip Zadina<\/a><\/strong> spent a year in the AHL and is now close to NHL ready. Defender <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hronefi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Filip Hronek<\/a><\/strong> got a taste of the NHL last year and should be a key cog in the Winged Wheel this season. He is joined on the blueline by newly drafted <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/04\/22\/moritz-seider-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mortiz Seider<\/strong><\/a> and last year&#8217;s second-round pick <strong>Jared McIsaac<\/strong>. Centre <strong>Joe Veleno<\/strong> starred in Drummondville and could hit the AHL this season. Winger <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hirosta01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taro Hirose<\/a><\/strong> was impressive in his NHL debut last year as well.<\/p>\n<h3>12.) <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/08\/20\/vegas-golden-knights-prospects\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vegas Golden Knights<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Centre <strong>Cody Glass<\/strong> is one of the top prospects outside the NHL and could contend for the Calder Trophy if he can get enough ice-time this year. An injury just before the draft took <strong>Peyton Krebs<\/strong> out of consideration for a top-10 pick and could lead to the Golden Knights getting a real steal at 17th overall. Defenceman <strong>Nicolas Hague\u00a0<\/strong>has a huge slap shot from the point. College free agent <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/schulja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jimmy Schuldt<\/a><\/strong> has a slightly lower ceiling but could be in the NHL this year. <strong>Dylan Coghlan<\/strong> also put up a lot of points from the blueline with the Chicago Wolves. The team could use a strong goalie prospect.<\/p>\n<h3>11.) <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/07\/28\/edmonton-oilers-prospects-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Edmonton Oilers<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bouchev01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evan Bouchard<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/04\/08\/philip-broberg-scouting-report-2019-nhl-draft-9\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Philip Broberg<\/strong><\/a>, <strong>Dimitri Samorukov<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bearet01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ethan Bear<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonesca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Caleb Jones<\/a><\/strong> represent the future of the Oilers blue line. The team also has quality forwards in <strong>Tyler Benson<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2019\/04\/13\/raphael-lavoie-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Raphael Lavoie<\/strong><\/a>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/y\/yamamka01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kailer Yamamoto<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Ryan MacLeod<\/strong>,\u00a0and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marodco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cooper Marody<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 In goal, the Oilers hope that one of <strong>Olivier Rodrigue<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0Stuart Skinner<\/strong>, or <strong>Dylan Wells <\/strong>develops into a future starter.
