Our series continues with the 2019-20 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2>2019-20 Edmonton Oilers Preview<\/h2>\n<h3>2018-19 Season<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2018-19 edition of the Edmonton Oilers was a huge disappointment, to say the least. They finished second to last in the Western Conference and missed the playoffs for the 12th time in\u00a013 seasons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They got off to a very slow start, which eventually lead to the firing of head coach <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mclelto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Todd McLellan<\/a> in late November. Things got a little better after <strong>Ken Hitchcock<\/strong> took over as head coach but injuries held the team back and hurt their chances for staying in the playoff race. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The team went through a long stretch without two of their top-four defencemen in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/klefbos01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oscar Klefbom<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/russekr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kris Russell<\/a>. On top of that, they were without <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sekeran01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrej Sekera<\/a> for most of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Offensively, the Oilers simply weren&#8217;t good enough. Aside from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcdavco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor McDavid<\/a> (116 points), Leon <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Draisaitl<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (105 points), and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/nugenry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Nugent-Hopkins<\/a> (69 points), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockeydb.com\/ihdb\/stats\/leagues\/seasons\/teams\/0000412019.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no other forward scored more than 38 points<\/a> last season.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result, the Edmonton Oilers finished 20th in goals for (229) with McDavid, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Draisaitl<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and Nugent Hopkins accounting for more than 50% (119) of the team\u2019s total goals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Defensively the team struggled as well. They had the second-worst penalty kill in the NHL at 74.8% and allowed the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhl.com\/stats\/team?reportType=season&amp;seasonFrom=20182019&amp;seasonTo=20182019&amp;gameType=2&amp;filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&amp;sort=goalsAgainst\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fifth-most goals against<\/a> at 271.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a few desperate attempts in trying to save the season, former Oilers\u2019 general manager <strong>Peter Chiarelli<\/strong> traded useful role players in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stromry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Strome<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/caggidr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drake Caggiula<\/a> for pieces (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/spoonry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Spooner<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mannibr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Manning<\/a>) that didn\u2019t pan out.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To the relief of many Oiler fans, Edmonton officially announced the firing of Peter Chiarelli January 22, 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All in all, the 2018-19 campaign was one Edmonton would like to forget. In many ways, it was a wasted season for their young superstars McDavid and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Draisaitl<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who each respectively had All-Star caliber seasons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>2019 Offseason<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Edmonton Oilers made several moves this off-season. First and foremost, they named <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hollake01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ken Holland<\/a> general manager and president of hockey operations. Shortly after that, they named <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tippeda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Tippett<\/a> as the team\u2019s new head coach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Holland and his staff got busy right away and were able to ink highly-touted Swedish forward <strong>Joakim Nygard<\/strong> to a one-year-deal.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, the Oilers surprised a few people by taking Sweedish defenseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brobeph01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philip Broberg<\/a> eighth overall. Then right before free agency, they bought out veteran defenceman <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Andrej Sekera<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/B2txk0x7MLY\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During free agency, Edmonton was one of the more active teams this summer. They were able to sign veteran goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=SmitMi21,SmitMi22,SmitMi23&amp;search=Mike+Smith&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Smith<\/a>, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/granlma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Markus Granlund<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jurcoto01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tomas Jurco<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><strong>Gaetan Haas<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/archijo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Josh Archibald<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perhaps the biggest move for the Oilers this summer was when they traded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lucicmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Milan Lucic<\/a> and a conditional draft pick to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flames\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calgary Flames<\/a> for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/nealja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">James Neal<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the cards he was dealt, Ken Holland gave the Oilers a major facelift in a short period of time. So we can expect many new faces to be in the Oilers&#8217; lineup on opening night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Projected Lines<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/draisle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leon Draisaitl<\/a> &#8211; Connor McDavid &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kassiza01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zack Kassian<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bensoty01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Benson<\/a> &#8211; Ryan Nugent-Hopkins &#8211; James Neal<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Markus Granlund &#8211; Gaetan Haas &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chiasal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Chiasson<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joakim Nygard &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/khairju01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jujhar Khaira<\/a> &#8211; Josh Archibald<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Top Six<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The top-six features two of the best offensive players in the NHL in McDavid and Draisaitl. One of the biggest ongoing questions is where Draisaitl will play this season?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will he be on McDavid\u2019s wing? Or will Dave Tippet let them each run their own line? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It remains to be seen, but like years past we might expect Draisaitl to be on-an-off McDavid\u2019s wing the entire season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aside from McDavid, Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins, the other three forward spots can fluctuate throughout the season. But a name like Zack Kassian might be a good bet to start on the first line, as he found success with McDavid last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A name like James Neal is expected to slot in as a top-six winger. Meanwhile, many expect a young player like Tyler Benson to secure a role as a top-six winger for the Oilers this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Bottom Six<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bottom-six has a mix of speed, skill, and strong two-way play. Players like Nygard and Hass will be interesting to watch. We will find out if their skillset can smoothly translate in the NHL next season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, players like Chiasson, Archibald, Khaira, and Granlund seem like a group that can add speed and versatility to the team. Additionally, they should be able to provide more offence than the previous year&#8217;s bottom-six. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Granlund and Archibald are capable penalty killers that should improve the PK. Meanwhile, a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> player like Chiasson could see time up in the top-six if Kassian, Neal or Benson do not produce up there. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, Jujhar Khaira is another versatile player that can move up and down the lineup, providing the Oilers with some size, greatness and strong checking wherever it is needed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>The Extras<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brodzky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Brodziak<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/caveco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Colby Cave<\/a>, Tomas Jurco<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seems like Brodziak and Cave may be on the outside looking in. But given Cave\u2019s age and potential upside, he still has a chance to work his way into the lineup and become a regular by the end of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A player like Tomas Jurco might be given a chance to crack the roster as well. The 26-year-old found some success with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> last year, chipping in 10 points in 29 games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Defence<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oscar Klefbom &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/larssad01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adam Larsson<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/nurseda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darnell Nurse<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bennima01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Benning<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kris Russell &#8211; Joel Persson<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Top Pairing<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In all likelihood, Oscar Klefbom and Adam Larsson will be the team\u2019s top-pairing to start the season. The duo found success together and was a key part of helping the Oilers reach the second round in 2017. If Klefbom is able to stay healthy, he should be able to set new career-highs and chip in close to 40 points from the blueline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bottom Pairings<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Darnell Nurse has proven that he is capable of handling heavy minutes. He took a huge step forward last season, notching a career-high 10 goals and 41 points in 82 games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With Sekera gone, the second-pairing spot could be a toss-up between Matt Benning and Kris Russell. But with Russell being the more experienced player, he could possibly be used in a mentor role to play alongside newly signed Joel Persson in the bottom pairing.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Persson appears to be the biggest question mark on defence this year. He should have a slight edge over Bouchard and Jones to make the team. But it remains to be seen whether he will become the steady puck-moving defenceman the Oilers desperately need him to be this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>The Extras<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonesca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Caleb Jones<\/a> \/ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bouchev01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evan Bouchard<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Out of all the defensive prospects in Edmonton\u2019s system, <strong>Evan Bouchard<\/strong> and <strong>Caleb Jones<\/strong> will likely have the best shot to see playing time in the NHL this year. Depending on how fast they can develop, one of them could possibly become an NHL regular by the end of next season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Goalies<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/koskimi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mikko Koskinen<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/smithmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Smith<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rGAGrPpj0GM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After signing Mikko Koskinen<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/oilers-re-signing-mikko-koskinen-three-year-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> to a contract extension last year,<\/a> the Oilers made it very clear that he is their main guy going forward. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Finn had a nice run for the Oilers early last season and has shown that he is capable of being an NHL starter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bringing in former <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/flames\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calgary Flames<\/a> goaltender Mike Smith might be one of the more underrated moves made by Holland this year.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith should be able to give the Oilers a solid 25-30 games as a backup. If Koskinen struggles, Smith might be capable of taking over the starting job, especially after seeing how well he played in the playoffs last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Players to Watch<\/h3>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tyler Benson<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many expect <strong>Tyler Benson<\/strong> to become a full-time NHL player this year. Originally drafted 32nd overall in 2016, Benson spent the last three season fine-tuning his game in the WHL and with the Bakersfield Condors last season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He had a very solid season in the AHL, scoring 66 points in 68 games along with seven points in ten games in the playoffs. It seems like Benson has a good shot to secure a roster spot on opening night and might be able to produce as a top-six forward as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">James Neal\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acquired from the Flames in the blockbuster deal that sent Milan Lucic the other way, James Neal has a lot to prove coming into this season.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Statistically, Neal had the worst season of his entire NHL career in 2018-19. He only managed to score seven goals and 19 points in 63 games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some feel like the perennial 20-goal scorer is on the decline, but he will be given opportunities to prove people wrong. With the chance to play with elite playmakers in Nugent-Hopkins, McDavid, Neals\u2019 opportunities to find the net should be there. He will likely be counted upon to be the trigger man on the powerplay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Joel Persson<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joel Persson might be one of the biggest dark horses on the Oilers this year. The 25-year-old had two solid seasons with Vaxjo HC in Sweden but is still unproven at the NHL level. If he pans out, he should be able to give the Oilers a solid puck-mover and provide some offence from the backend. Right now his ceiling is unknown but if he is able to become a 30 to 35 point player and give the Oilers a solid 18-20-minutes a night it might be considered a very good signing by Holland.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>2019-20 Edmonton Oilers Prediction<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Oilers didn\u2019t make any major moves to significantly improve to their lineup this summer, so it\u2019s hard to call them a lock to be a playoff team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On paper, it seems like they added some pieces that improve their secondary scoring in the bottom-six. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But at the same time, the defence still has a lot of question marks. They are likely a Klefbom injury away from being in trouble once again. It remains to be seen whether<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> how much impact players like Persson or Bouchard will have on this team.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simply put, many teams in the Western Conference improved this summer.
