Ellis eclipsed the 40-point mark for the first time last season with seven goals and 34 assists.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Hamilton, Ontario native came into the league with plenty of offensive hype. He helped the Windsor Spitfires win back-to-back Memorial Cups in 2008 and 2009. Ellis scored 20 goals twice with Windsor and was CHL Player of the Year in 2011.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, he\u2019s been able to round himself into a more complete player. His Corsi for has been over 50-percent in all but one of his eight-year NHL career. Ellis has also been better in his own half of the ice. He\u2019s worked on his positioning and has been able to get control of the puck to start rushes the other way.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/josiro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Roman Josi<\/a> <\/strong>is the captain and pretty much the leader of the group. However, Ellis is going to need to step his game up even more now that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/subbapk01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">P.K. Subban <\/a><\/strong><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">was sent to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/nhl-teams\/devils\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Jersey Devils<\/a> on NHL Draft weekend.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ryan Ellis Ready to Lead<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ellis is a smooth skater and a great stickhandler that has a penchant for scoring goals. He has also added a physical element to his game despite him being 5-foot-10-inches and 180 pounds. The 28-year-old is willing to throw his body around when needed.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He\u2019s also very skilled on the power play as he helps quarterback one of the units for the Predators. Nashville\u2019s special teams struggled last season and its power play was anemic at times. However, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennessean.com\/story\/sports\/nhl\/predators\/2019\/06\/04\/dan-lambert-nashville-predators-coaching-staff-power-play\/1343726001\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">the addition of former Spokane Chiefs head coach<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lambeda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dan Lambert<\/a><\/strong> may help the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2018\/11\/16\/nashville-predators-special-teams-not-playing-special\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Predators power-play problems.<\/a> Lambert has been successful at all levels in running the extra-man unit.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ellis has formed successful partnerships with Josi and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/ekholma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mattias Ekholm<\/a><\/strong> in recent seasons and could spend time with promising rookie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fabbrda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Dante Fabbro<\/strong><\/a><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. The veteran would be a perfect partner to work him into the lineup. Both players came into the NHL with plenty of offensive promise and he can help <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fabbro<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> navigate the waters of a hyped rookie.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The veteran would click with any of the three defenders on the team. Many want to see him with Josi or help <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Fabbro<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> develop into another in a long line of quality Nashville defencemen.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Model of Consistency<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The former 11<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft has been a steady force for the team in his career. He\u2019s been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/predlines.com\/2019\/08\/02\/ryan-ellis-nashville-predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">in the top-30 when compared to other <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">defencemen<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> in the league. The only season he didn\u2019t do that was when he was injured in 2017-18 after his knee surgery.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">His offensive numbers have been consistent for most of his career and he\u2019s been willing to adapt his game. Duchene is expected to bring scoring punch to a team that needed it. He may also help the woeful power play and Ellis may be a beneficiary.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Nashville would love to see Ellis challenge for the 50-point mark next season.
