Kreider sits at a $4.625 million cap hit as he enters the final year of his contract. The Rangers are $4.1 million over the cap and hope to re-sign <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lemiebr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brendan Lemieux<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/deangan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony DeAngelo<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Other likely trade candidates are <\/span><strong>Vladislav Namestnikov<\/strong><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stromry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Strome<\/a>,<\/strong> who make $4 million and $3.1 million, respectively. Stephenson proposed buyouts of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/shattke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Shattenkirk<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/smithbr05.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brendan Smith<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0but they wouldn\u2019t be saving that much in the second year.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Analysis: General manager Jeff Gorton is going to have to do some fancy footwork if he wants to make all the pieces fit. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Namestnikov<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> hasn\u2019t really found his footing in New York and may well do with a change of scenery. He is a promising player, netting 31 points last season and 48 the year prior. There&#8217;s no doubt that he&#8217;d reel in plenty of interest. Regan of NBC Washington said that Holtby might be harder to keep than Backstrom.
