Mueller has gone scoreless in all three of his Stanley Cup Playoff games. He was originally drafted 18th overall of the 2013 NHL Draft by the Sharks.

Last season he scored a goal along with 10 assists for 11 points, all of which were career highs for Mueller. He also added 17 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 47.9 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 0.7.

What This Means for the Future of Mirco Mueller

Mueller skated in only 53 games for the Devils last season due and missed 11 games due to a shoulder injury. However, those 53 games were a career high for Mueller, as he has yet to solidify a spot in a line-up since joining the league in 2014. The 24-year old defenceman also missed 31 games during the 2017-18 season due to a fractured clavicle. He can produce on both sides of the ice thanks to his puck-moving skills.

With how the Devils blue-line is stacking up expect Mueller to be an extra defenceman for the Devils when the season begins. He adds some solid size on the back-end at 6″3, 220lbs but is not known for playing a physical style game. If Mueller is able to find a way to stay healthy expect his numbers to improve next season as he hit career highs after getting more regular time this past season.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenceman Mirco Mueller to a 1-year contract worth $1.4 million.
