I had no idea. My hands were shaking and legs were shaking. I looked at my mom and she was so shocked, she was way more nervous than I was.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The big question is why Detroit wouldn\u2019t go after elite forwards like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2019\/04\/04\/dylan-cozens-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_self\">Dylan Cozens<\/a>, <\/strong><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2019\/04\/15\/cole-caufield-scouting-report\/\" target=\"_self\">Cole Caufield<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2019\/04\/07\/trevor-zegras-scouting-report-2019-nhl-draft-8\/\" target=\"_self\">Trevor Zegras<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Those players had higher ratings according to draft experts and would have helped the Wings\u2019 scoring issues.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, the Red Wings have taken forwards five of the last six years and they have younger players like <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zadinfi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Filip Zadina<\/a><\/strong> and<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rasmumi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Rasmussen<\/a><\/strong> developing. The defence<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0was a major sore spot with the club as they have ageing veterans and younger defenders being thrust into the spotlight that may not be fully ready.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Under Pressure<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The main reason that Yzerman took a risk with Seider is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/sports\/nhl\/red-wings\/2019\/06\/21\/detroit-red-wings-moritz-seider-2019-nhl-draft\/1524751001\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">that he makes pressure plays<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Yzerman said that the team had the young German on the radar since the IIHF World Junior Championships. Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill also like what he saw from Seider at the IIHF World Championships.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Blashill, who coached Team USA at the Worlds, like that Seider was able to close off opposing forwards. Seider also added two goals and five assists for his country. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He was also able to make big plays in the German league with Adler Mannheim. He could become a franchise defender.
