The Edmonton Oilers May Have Their Goaltender of the Future<\/h2>\n

In the trade for Devon Levi, the Oilers find a young, formerly highly touted netminder looking to break into the NHL. Appearing in nine NHL games in the 2025-26 season, Levi posted a 2-7-0 record with a .872 save percentage. His AHL numbers have also dipped over the last couple of seasons. In the 2024-25 season, Levi had a 25-13-4 record and a .919 save percentage. This fell to a 23-20-9 record and a .904 save percentage this past season. Edmonton will need to try its best to isolate the young netminder as he continues to develop.<\/p>\n

The Buffalo Sabres Clear Space in the Goaltending Department<\/h2>\n

While the 3rd round pick isn’t a fantastic return, the Sabres were already full in the goaltending department between Ukko-Pekka-Luukkonen, Alex Lyon<\/a>, and Colten Ellis<\/a>. They have also been one of the most heavily linked teams to Winnipeg Jets star Connor Hellebuyck<\/a>. In this move, Buffalo has cleared up some roster space while getting an asset in the process. Watch for Buffalo in the Hellebuyck sweepstakes going forward.<\/p>\n

Both teams have designs of making deep runs into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Levi may not win the starting job in Edmonton. However, he can finally have a chance to get some sustained minutes and avoid the logjam that he had to deal with in Buffalo.<\/p>\n
