Let’s dig into the details and discuss why both sides were happy with this deal.

The Jeremy Lauzon Contract Extension Done Deal With Vegas Golden Knights

The deal with Vegas is a six-year contract extension, carrying an average annual value around $4 million. You’d have to think Lauzon would be thrilled to get that total dollar amount, it is well earned. This gives the player security for a long while, at a team friendly dollar amount. It seems win-win.

The deal also contains no-trade clauses. In year one, it is a full no-trade clause, then the teams get fewer, as the years go on. Year two, it is a 16-team no-trade clause, then in years three and four, a 10-team no-trade clause. Finally, the last two years of the deal, he can select seven teams he wishes to not get traded to during those seasons.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBjbzKG15H" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2674px; aspect-ratio: 2674/1783;" ></smartframe-embed>

JEREMY LAUZON of the Boston Bruins takes out the Flyers CARSEN TWARYNSKI in preseason action at the Wells Fargo Center on September 19, 2019 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Further to @DarrenDreger report, Jeremy Lauzon is signing a six-year extension with Vegas carrying an AAV in the $4M range.

— Chris Johnston (@reporterchris) July 1, 2026

Looking at Lauzon’s Play

2025-26 was Lauzon’s first season with the Vegas Golden Knights. They are his fourth team after starting with the Boston Bruins, having a brief stopover with the Seattle Kraken, and most recently playing parts of four season with the Nashville Predators.

He has shown to be very steady throughout his career. He brings a great deal of toughness, and that is exactly the recipe Vegas likes to cook with. Signing a Jeremy Lauzon contract, is a product of how he has been so consistent throughout his career, with well over 200 hits a season on multiple occasions, and all on 17:34 of average ice time throughout his career. In 2025-26, he proved that he could be reliable on the backend for the Golden Knights. Case in point, he accumulated 13 points in 68 games, in 17:11 of ice time, had 251 registered hits, and was third on the team in blocked shots with 97.

Working yourself into the regular rotation on the Vegas defence is no easy task. Also, things got a little more competitive, after Parker Wotherspoon was acquired earlier today from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Although it was a one-for-one, as Kaedan Korczak went the other way. So, they want a little change on the backend, and it was helped by the reliability Lauzon has provided. Just another great example of why Vegas is a winner, year after year, with savvy moves by general manager Kelly McCrimmon and company.

Lauzon breakdown year by year: 5.7 (includes 4 SB)/4.3/3.5/3.5/3.5/3.5

Yr 1: full NTC, YR 2: 16 teams, Yr 3-4: 10 teams, Yr 5-6: 7 teams https://t.co/X12DnIUY9F

— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 1, 2026

Main Photo Credit: Lucas Peltier-Imagn Images

The Vegas Golden Knights are making a little news on the evening before the 2026 NHL free agent frenzy.
