News emerged that the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2026\/06\/26\/pavel-dorofeyev-trade\/\" target=\"_self\">Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> have signed the <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/anderra01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rasmus Andersson<\/a> <a  href=\"https:\/\/vegashockeyknight.com\/a-new-report-sheds-light-on-rasmus-andersson-s-future-with-the-golden-knights\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contract<\/a>. This deal is for seven years and has a total value of $59.5 million. The contract has an average salary cap hit of $8.5 million and runs through the end of the 2032-33 season.<\/p>\n<p>INSERT TWEET HERE<\/p>\n<h2>Rasmus Andersson Contract Signed by Vegas Golden Knights<\/h2>\n<p>Andersson has played for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2026\/06\/23\/flames-simon-nemec-trade\/\" target=\"_self\">Calgary Flames<\/a> and the Golden Knights across his 10-year NHL career. The 29-year-old tallied 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 points in 81 games last season split between Calgary and Vegas. He averaged 23 minutes, 12 seconds of ice time, which nearly over one-and-a-half minutes more than he previously averaged for his career. The Malmo, Sweden native had a Corsi for of 50.1 and a relative Corsi of -6.1.<\/p>\n<p>Andersson has 64 goals and 214 assists for 278 points in 617 career games. Calgary originally drafted him in the second round, 53rd overall of the 2015 NHL Draft. <a  href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rasmus_Andersson\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">He is the son<\/a> of former <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2026\/06\/29\/new-york-rangers-retool\/\" target=\"_self\">New York Rangers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2026\/06\/29\/radko-gudas-rights\/\" target=\"_self\">Florida Panthers<\/a> player <a  target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=anderpe02,anderpe03&amp;search=Peter+Andersson&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-06-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Andersson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The younger Andersson has represented his native Sweden at the international level. He was part of the bronze-medal winning squad at the 2025 IIHF World Championships that were hosted in Sweden and Denmark. The veteran blueliner was sought after at the NHL trade deadline before the Golden Knights secured his services.<\/p>\n<p>He didn&#8217;t score any goals in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, Andersson picked up six assists in 22 postseason games as Vegas made a run to the Stanley Cup Final. Despite this, the Golden Knights fell to the Carolina Hurricanes in six games.<\/p>\n<p>Andersson has been a solid puck-moving defender and improves any defensive group that he&#8217;s a part of.
