Teams are always looking to add size and scoring to their middle-six forward group. At 31 years old, Marchment checks a lot of those boxes. From a career standpoint, Marchment could be regarded as a bit of a late bloomer. The undrafted, 6’5” forward, and son of former NHLer Bryan Marchment, never made his NHL debut until he was 24 with the Florida Panthers.

Now, he is up to 370 career NHL games, with 95 goals, 139 assists, for a total of 234 points. So, his rate of productivity has been fairly decent throughout his NHL career, especially considering not really being in a top line role. Also, he has been involved in some deep Stanley Cup Playoff runs from his time with the Dallas Stars. In 59 career playoff games, he has 19 points in just over 15 minutes of average ice time. In terms of the offence he currently brings in his game, he has scored 19 or more goals in each of the past three NHL seasons. If given the right mix of net front time on the power play, and perhaps a regular playmaking linemate, there’s no reason not to expect 20-25 goals, if not more. For many teams, he could be just what the general manager ordered.

Case in point, enter the San Jose Sharks, and you know general manager Mike Grier is eagerly anticipating the start of next season. San Jose was a major player on this day, trying to build their team around the likes of Macklin Celebrini, Will Smith, and now add Ivar Stenberg to the list. Today, the Sharks added not one, but two bulking defencemen in Jacob Trouba and Darnell Nurse.
