This season, the Russian goalie earned a 27-23-1 record with a 3.07 goals-against-average and .877 save percentage. Bobrovsky also registered four shutouts in a season that may have been down according to his lofty standards.

Over his career, Bobrovsky has a career record of 456-266-58 with a 2.61 GAA and .912 save percentage. The Novokuznetsk, Russia native has also recorded 53 shutouts across his lengthy NHL career. However, the Panthers got every penny’s worth from that massive contract. The veteran netminder backstopped Florida to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships.

Bobrovsky has cemented his legacy as one of the best Russian goalies of all time. He’ll most certainly get a call from the Hall of Fame at some point in his retirement. However, Bobrovsky still has something left to prove in his NHL career.

A veteran netminder like Bobrovsky can still will a team to a win. The goalie still feels like he can be the number one cop on the force. Toronto has hopefully shored up a massive hole in their lineup that has caused them plenty of trouble over the last few seasons.

Main photo by: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images

A Stanley Cup winning goal has decided his fate.
