It’s the first game<\/a> of the second round that features in tonight’s NHL predictions. The Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> face the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> in Game 1 of the best-of-seven conference semifinal series. Both clubs got out to three games to none series leads. However, the Hurricanes were the only to team to complete the sweep.<\/p>\n

Carolina took care of business by dispatching the Ottawa Senators.<\/a> The Hurricanes held Brady Tkachuk<\/a> without a point and German standout Tim Stutzle<\/a> only notched one point in the sweep. There’s plenty of pressure on the Hurricanes to finally make the Stanley Cup Final after years of just missing out.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia needed three chances to put away the rival Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> in six games. The Flyers are back in the postseason after a few seasons in the wilderness. Head coach Rick Tocchet<\/a> has this young roster believing in itself.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a look at the statistics and storyline for Game 1 in this latest edition of NHL predictions.<\/p>\n

The Flyers Story<\/h3>\n

Philadelphia is back in the postseason for the first time since the COVID-19 bubble. However, the Flyers don’t seem to be content with just being happy to be there. There’s a bit of old school bite and new school young talent on this roster.<\/p>\n

Daniel Vladar<\/a> is the expected starter for the Flyers. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Vladar was excellent in the clinching game with a 42-save shutout to send the Penguins packing.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Rasmus Ristolainen<\/a> is the surprise leader in points with five so far this postseason. Porter Martone<\/a> has burst onto the scene with game-winning goals in the first two games of the last series.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hurricanes Story<\/h3>\n

There’s plenty of pressure on Rod Brind’Amour<\/a> to get this group into the Stanley Cup Final. The path seems to be clearer with the Florida Panthers<\/a> not making the tournament. However, Carolina knows it can’t take this Philadelphia group lightly.<\/p>\n

Frederik Andersen<\/a> has turned back the clock and should draw the start again for the Hurricanes. The Great Dane only gave up five goals in the four-game sweep of Ottawa in the opening round. Many Canes fans are hoping Andersen can sustain this pace in goal.<\/p>\n

Logan Stankoven<\/a> averaged a goal a game in the opening round for Carolina. Sebastian Aho<\/a> is also continuing to prove why he’s one of the most consistent players in the NHL.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/h3>\n

Philadelphia may have a chance to catch Carolina in this game. The Hurricanes haven’t played since completing the sweep of the Senators one week ago. We could see the Flyers beat a rusty Hurricanes team.<\/p>\n

Also, all four regular season meetings between the two clubs needed to go to overtime and three went to a shootout. However, Carolina should get on track with the win in this game.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Hurricanes win 3-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Best Bets<\/h3>\n

We close out this round of NHL predictions with some of our favourite prop bets. The over\/under for the Flyers versus the Hurricanes is 5.5, and we like the under in this game.<\/p>\n

As for individual props, take Jaccob Slavin<\/a> to record a point for Carolina. On the Philadelphia end of things, take Travis Konecny<\/a> to get an anytime goal.<\/p>\n
