They could potentially clinch last place with a regulation loss tonight. They were dominated yet again by an opportunistic Flames squad, losing 7-3 on Saturday night. The netminding was one of many issues in the game, with Nikita Tolopilo getting pulled after allowing four goals on eleven shots, in his first game in two weeks.

This game will also mark the 1000th game in Evander Kane‘s career. The Vancouver native will have his ceremony when the team returns from their road trip.

The Golden Knights Story

Vegas is, frankly, lucky to still be in a Stanley Cup Playoff spot, having won only 32 of 74 games this season. They are hanging on to third place in the Pacific Division, but the teams behind them in the division are not winning consistently either. Their odds of making the postseason remain high, but with how they are currently playing, how much damage could they do in the playoffs?

One of the most baffling stats from this season is the fact that the Golden Knights have trailed in games almost as much as the Canucks have. A few days ago, Vegas actually overtook Vancouver in the number of minutes spent trailing this season.

The Golden Knights now lead the NHL in Time Spent Trailing.

VGK have been behind for 1,845 minutes.

Vancouver is the only team within 100 minutes of VGK.

VGK this season
Leading: 26.1%
Trailing: 41.9%
Tied: 32.0%

— SinBin.vegas (@SinBinVegas) March 25, 2026

On Sunday afternoon, it was announced that Bruce Cassidy had been relieved of his duties. John Tortorella will be the new head coach, with this game being his first behind the bench. A shocking development, with just eight games remaining in Vegas’ season. This will mark the 24th campaign Tortorella was a head coach in the show. He even coach Vancouver in the 2013-14 season to make this game an interesting reunion.

Starting Goalies

Below are the projected starters for tonight’s game.
