NHL Predictions thinks for Tampa, the key is managing Toronto\u2019s transition attack. The Maple Leafs thrive when turnovers lead to quick strikes from their star forwards. Limiting giveaways through the neutral zone will be critical. Special teams could also decide the outcome. Tampa\u2019s power play sits at 21.8%, 13th in the league. Clean entries and quick puck movement could expose Toronto\u2019s strong penalty kill, 83%, sixth in the league. Finally, Tampa must establish its forecheck early. Sustained pressure in the offensive zone prevents Toronto from using its speed to counterattack, and nothing frustrates a high-skill team quite like spending two minutes chasing the puck in its own end.<\/p>\n

Toronto\u2019s Outlook<\/b><\/h3>\n

Even selling off at the deadline, Toronto brings firepower into this matchup. <\/span><\/a>William Nylander<\/a> leads the team with 58 points and continues to be one of the league\u2019s most dynamic puck carriers. <\/span><\/a>Auston Matthews<\/a> is Toronto\u2019s top goal scorer with 26 goals and a knack for scoring at the exact moment opposing fans begin to feel comfortable. Captain <\/span><\/a>John Tavares, <\/a>having a bounce-back year, contributes veteran scoring touch with 52 points. In goal, <\/span><\/a>Joseph Woll<\/a> has delivered several strong performances, despite sharing time with Anthony Stolarz. Woll’s 13 wins in 28 starts lead the team.<\/p>\n

Toronto\u2019s Keys to Victory<\/b><\/h3>\n

NHL Predictions thinks with this six-game losing streak, Toronto must win the pace battle early. Establishing pressure in Tampa\u2019s zone and forcing the Lightning defence to make quick decisions. Pounce when they do not. At 3.16 goals per game, the Leafs show they still know how to hit the water bottle on the top of the net. Discipline will also be crucial. Tampa\u2019s power play is too dangerous to give repeated opportunities. Staying out of the penalty box should be high on Toronto\u2019s checklist. Finally, controlling rebounds in front of their net will be essential. Tampa excels at crashing the crease and capitalizing on second chances. If Toronto\u2019s defence can clear the front of the net and limit those opportunities, the Leafs will keep themselves in the game.<\/p>\n
