These two teams have played very tight, competitive games in each of their three meetings so far. These games have been so close in fact, that Dallas won the last two meetings by scoring the game winning goal with less than 90 seconds left.

This is the fourth and final meeting between these two divisional foes. In addition to that, this is also each team’s final game before the Olympic Break. The Stars are hanging tight at the top of the Central Division. At the end of play on Thursday, Dallas could find themselves just four points behind the once invincible Colorado Avalanche.

Meanwhile, St. Louis is sitting in the penultimate position of the NHL. The New York Rangers and Calgary Flames are also hanging around the bottom of the league. When everyone returns from the break, two races will begin. The race to the Stanley Cup (where Dallas is firmly positioned) and the battle for the first-overall draft pick (which St. Louis has a great shot at).

How Much Longer Now?

Coming into tonight, the St. Louis Blues have 26 games remaining in the 2025-2026 season. Are they mathematically eliminated from the postseason? Not yet. Do they look like a team that could win 20+ of those 26 games and make it interesting down the stretch? Absolutely not.

The Blues started their final two games before the break near perfect. Halfway through Monday night, they led the Nashville Predators by a score of 5-1. Then the other Blues team showed up to play hockey. Coaches, players, fans, and the entire league watched as Nashville scored five unanswered goals to easily complete an utterly impressive comeback.

Jim Montgomery said he noticed his team’s confidence disappear after the second Predators goal. In 53 games this year, forward Mikko Rantanen leads Dallas with 68 points. The team leader in points for St. Louis? The injured Robert Thomas with 33.

If Dallas is able to get both points tonight, that will put them 7-3-0 in their last ten games. Three of those seven wins will have come against this very St. Louis team. The Blues and their fans are counting down the games until the draft. The Stars fans however, have their eyes set on overtaking Colorado and winning not only the Central Division, but the Stanley Cup.

Prediction:

Jason Robertson and Matt Duchene have had their fingerprints all over the score sheet for these past two matchups. Duchene has three goals against the Blues while Robertson has a goal and three assists. St. Louis and Team Canada goalie Jordan Binnington will likely get the nod tonight, serving as one final tune up before the Olympics begin. Jordan Kyrou has eight points over his last five games, which may give St. Louis a bit of hope. Unfortunately, the Stars are just too offensively gifted for the mess that is the Blues defensive play

Prediction: Stars win 5-2

Prop Bets:

The over/under for this game is at 5.5 goals. Blues captain Brayden Schenn had two goals the last time these teams met. After the abysmal showing in Nashville, the captain will look to get everyone back on track.
