It’s another Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL predictions. We’ve got another matchup between Canadian teams as the Vancouver Canucks<\/a> take on the Montreal Canadiens<\/a>. The Habs are going for the two-game season sweep of the Canucks in this primetime matchup.<\/p>\n

Vancouver has dropped six consecutive games entering this matchup, including an embarrassing 5-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday. The Canucks have only taken at least a point in four of the last 10 games.<\/p>\n

Montreal is 6-2-2 in its previous 10 games and has been in first place as recently as Saturday night. However, the Canadiens are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> in a pivotal Atlantic Division game.<\/p>\n

Let’s take a look at the statistics and the storylines in this Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL predictions.<\/p>\n

The Canucks Story<\/h3>\n

Vancouver seems destined for the NHL Draft lottery as it inhabits last place in the Pacific Division. It’s been tough sledding for head coach Adam Foote<\/a> in his first season behind the bench with the Canucks.<\/p>\n

Injuries have hit the crease hard, and Thatcher Demko<\/a> may be out once again<\/a> for Vancouver. Kevin Lankinen<\/a> will likely get the call in goal but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter.<\/p>\n

Elias Pettersson<\/a> (the forward) leads the team in points with 26. The Swede is tied with Conor Garland<\/a> for the team’s lead in assists with 15. Kiefer Sherwood<\/a> has made himself a trade target with 17 goals so far this season.<\/p>\n

The Canadiens Story<\/h3>\n

Montreal has seemingly taken the next step in its team development. The Habs broke through and made the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season. However, they’re not content with just being there. This is a team that has aspirations of making a deep run.<\/p>\n

Samuel Montembeault is the projected starter for the Habs, and he’s looking to improve on his numbers against a team that’s had difficulty to score goals at times. Montembeault has an .869 save percentage and 3.39 goals-against-average.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cole Caufield<\/a> leads Montreal in goals with 21 so far this campaign. However, Nick Suzuki<\/a> leads the Habs in assists (34) and points (48).<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/h3>\n

Things have been bad for the Canucks in this recent stretch of games. Vancouver had a recent stretch where it played well. However, the Canucks have yet to find that form.<\/p>\n

Montreal has been showing that it can be a contender for the Prince of Wales Trophy. If the defence and goaltending can be more consistent, the Canadiens could be a problem in May or June.<\/p>\n

The Habs should pick up the victory in this all-Canadian battle on Monday Night Hockey on Prime.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Canadiens win 4-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Prop Bets of the Night<\/h3>\n

We close out this Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over\/under for the Canucks versus the Canadiens is 5.5, and we like the over in this game.<\/p>\n

As for individual props, take Garland to get a point in this game for Vancouver. On the Montreal side of things, take Ivan Demidov<\/a> to get an anytime goal.<\/p>\n
