Florida is expected to go with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bobrose01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sergei Bobrovsky<\/a> but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Panthers are 5-4-1 in their previous 10 games but did lose to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2026\/01\/06\/toronto-maple-leafs-defenceman-injury-update-good-news\/\" target=\"_self\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> last time out. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marchbr03.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brad Marchand<\/a> continues to lead the way this season with 23 goals and 23 assist for 46 points.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Montembeault is the likely starter after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fowleja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacob Fowler<\/a> got the start in a 4-1 victory over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2025\/12\/30\/the-calgary-flames-have-their-crease-on-lockdown-until-at-least-2028\/\" target=\"_self\">Calgary Flames<\/a>. Montreal has caught fire and is 7-1-2 in its last 10 games, which includes victories in its last two outings. The Habs swept last year&#8217;s season series and beat the Cats earlier this season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/suzukni01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Suzuki<\/a> leads the team in assists (33) and points (47).<\/p>\n<p>Montreal has had Florida&#8217;s number as of late. However, Boston should get the win to even the season series.<\/p>\n<p><em>Prediction: Bruins win 4-2.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<h3>Edmonton Oilers vs Winnipeg Jets<\/h3>\n<h3>Head-to-Head: Oilers 2-0 Jets<\/h3>\n<p>How to Watch:<\/p>\n<p><strong>US TV:<\/strong> ESPN+<\/p>\n<p><strong>Canada TV:<\/strong> SNW; TSN3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)<\/p>\n<p>Our final and featured game of NHL predictions has the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2026\/01\/03\/nhl-predictions-philadelphia-flyers-edmonton-oilers-january-3rd\/\" target=\"_self\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> going for the three-game season sweep of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2026\/01\/04\/the-department-of-player-safety-decides-on-jets-senators-incident\/\" target=\"_self\">Winnipeg Jets.<\/a> Edmonton is expected to go with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/i\/ingraco01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor Ingram<\/a> in goal for this game. The Oilers are 6-4 in their last 10 games but did beat the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2025\/12\/29\/nhl-predictions-nashville-predators-vs-utah-mammoth\/\" target=\"_self\">Nashville Predators<\/a> in their last time on ice. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcdavco01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor McDavid<\/a> leads in goals (28), assists (47), and points (75).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/helleco01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-01-08_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor Hellebuyck<\/a> is the projected starter for the Jets, who have lost 10 consecutive games. Winnipeg has only mustered four points during that stretch and are sitting at the bottom of the league. However, it faces a tall order stopping the Edmonton offence.<\/p>\n<p><em>Prediction: Oilers win 4-2.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Prop Bets of the Night<\/h3>\n<p>We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. Let&#8217;s stick with our featured game for our preferred props.
