This is something they have simply done too much this season. Most recently, it happened three times in the last week. Coach Jim Montgomery likes the play of his team but still can’t seem to find a way to get his team to finish a full 60 minute hockey game.

Pavel Buchnevich and Brayden Schenn have heard the chatter around their names. On Saturday, they found themselves back on the scoresheet, and less than a minute into the game. Buchnevich is still looking for that elusive goal of late, but was able to add a helper on the goal scored by the captain. Jordan Kyrou worked his way onto the scoresheet again as well, earning an assist on Pius Suter’s sixth of the year. In their Centennial Anniversary Season, the Rangers set an NHL record early and not in a good way. The New York Rangers became the first team to ever be shut out in their first three home games.

To add insult to injury, the Rangers have an anemic 1-7-1 home record.

The only reason that the Rangers are not at the bottom of the league and fishing for the first-overall pick in this summer’s draft is because of their play on the road. The Los Angeles Kings are the only other team in the league that also have nine wins away from home. If they are able to get even a fraction of the consistency at home that they have on the road, the Rangers will certainly find themselves right back in the mix of playoff contention.

Prediction:

Both of these teams need the points. The Blues are feeling great and playing…okay. The Rangers have lost four straight games, three of which on the road where they are supposed to dominate. This feels like a must win for New York.

Now that the dust of the offer sheets for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg has settled, they seem to be able to relax and just play hockey. Their play has been key in all three zones for the Blues on this road trip, which has helped the Blues get points in three straight. Plus having Broberg on the back end with big Colton Parayko will cause headaches for any team.

Mika Zibanejad has five points in the last five games and 20 overall for the Rangers. Former Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox sits right behind him with 19. They also have proven talent in net, as long as both goalies play like they’ve shown they can.

Prediction: Blues win 5-3.

Prop Bets:

The books have the over/under at 5.5 goals in the game. In regards to the Rangers, it’s hard not to think Artemi Panarin will remain off of the scoresheet, so we’ll take him with a goal at +160.

Main Photo Credit: Danny Wild-Imagn Images

Please play responsibly, check for your local rules and age restrictions; some jurisdictions require ages 21+.
