The Sabres will be down another centre for a significant period of time. Head coach Lindy Ruff<\/a> said Jiri Kulich<\/a> is out indefinitely. There is currently no timetable on a return. There is potential for him to return this season. However, it depends on how things go in the next three to four weeks, according to Ruff.<\/p>\n

Jiri Kulich<\/a> is going to miss a \u201csignificant amount of time\u201d due to a blood clot, per Sabres HC Lindy Ruff<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What We Know<\/h4>\n

Kulich has missed three-straight games, with what was believed to be an illness. Clearly, the issue is a lot larger than it appeared to be initially. There is potential for this to be season ending, especially if the Sabres are out of a playoff spot later in the season. It would make sense to shut him down for the year. “I’m gonna say yes,<\/em>” was the response from Ruff about whether or not Kulich will return this year.<\/p>\n

Kulich Out, Who’s In?<\/h4>\n

The Sabres are riddled with injuries<\/a>, and it’s a trend that continued from training camp. With starting centre Joshua Norris<\/a> out with an upper-body injury, Kulich was the guy to fill that role. Now with Kulich out, will the Sabres look for a trade? Or will they look internally to fill the void? Right now the few NHL centres the Sabres have are Peyton Krebs<\/a> and Ryan McLeod. McLeod has found a nice rhythm playing with Josh Doan<\/a> and Alex Tuch<\/a>, so it’s likely that line will stay the same. Will Krebs jump up and play with Tage Thompson<\/a> to hopefully find some scoring with him? Or will the Sabres opt to call up Konsta Helenius<\/a> from Rochester? These are all questions that will be figured out in the coming days. Kevyn Adams<\/a> has his work cut out for him.<\/p>\n
