Kerfoot missed all of training camp with a lower-body injury and was on injured reserve ever since. He will now have to wait even longer before making his season debut. The 31-year-old missed just one game in his first season in Utah, registering 11 goals and 17 assists.<\/p>\n<p>Kerfoot primarily played in a bottom-six role, whether that be on the third or fourth line. His ability to play centre and wing, up and down the lineup, makes him a versatile player. That\u2019s something the Mammoth will surely miss having. Kerfoot had a 52.4% faceoff rating last year, which was one of the best on Utah.<\/p>\n<h2>What it Means<\/h2>\n<p>The Mammoth are losing a depth piece of their forward group. They managed to sign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tanevbr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-24_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Tanev<\/a> and bring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/carcomi01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-24_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Carcone<\/a> back in the fold, but they can\u2019t play up the middle like Kerfoot. So if Utah suffers more injuries at centre, it would be difficult to fill the position.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcbaija03.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-10-24_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack McBain<\/a> has been filling the role as the third-line centre since the season started, and that will continue with Kerfoot out. The two would flip around the lineup in 2024-2025. Now McBain will have the spot to himself in Kerfoot\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n<p>The Mammoth are heading on the road to take on the Minnesota Wild and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2025\/10\/24\/nhl-predictions-friday-night-featuring-calgary-flames-winnipeg-jets\/\" target=\"_self\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a>, Saturday and Sunday.
