Now, it is Chara&#8217;s turn.<\/p>\n<h3>Chara Joins Elite Company<\/h3>\n<p>Chara has a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/09\/18\/zdeno-charas-career-reflection\/\" target=\"_self\">big role in the Bruins&#8217; history<\/a>. That is saying something considering the Bruins are an Original Six team.<\/p>\n<p>Chara joined the Bruins for the 2006-07 season. The defenceman would play 1,023 games for the Bruins. Furthermore, he would eventually become the Bruins&#8217; captain. Under Chara&#8217;s captaincy, the Bruins reached the Stanley Cup Final three times, winning it all in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Once his number is joins the rafters, Chara will join elite company from Bruins&#8217; history. He will be the 13th Bruin to have his number retired by the team. The induction ceremony will occur in November. Needless to say, it will be a busy time for Chara. However, it will be a time filled with honours, all of them deserved.<\/p>\n<h3>Chara&#8217;s Statement<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIt is truly beyond words to see my jersey, number 33, raised to the rafters at TD Garden,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcboston.com\/news\/local\/zdeno-chara-boston-bruins-number-retirement-ceremony-details\/3821226\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chara said in a statement released by the team<\/a>. \u201cThis honor is greater than anything I could have imagined when I first came to Boston. I am forever grateful to the Bruins organization for trusting me to lead, to all my teammates past and present, to the fans whose passion and energy made Boston feel like home, and to my family who made everything possible.
