He was tied on the team for goals (three) in the Blues’ first-round playoff matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. Walker also led the team with 281 hits and 63 penalty minutes.

Career Thus Far

Originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in 2014, Walker became the first Australian player to be drafted into the NHL. He has appeared in 229 NHL games, totaling 28 goals and 28 assists. He has also won a Stanley Cup in 2018 with the Washington Capitals. Since arriving in St. Louis in 2019, he has been appreciated for his physical play and willingness to sacrifice his body for the team. He had an average ice time of just over 12 minutes last season, and was part of the “WTF” line alongside Alexey Toropchenko and Radek Faksa.

This year, Walker will likely retain his role on the fourth line. His linemates are to be determined, but we do expect Toropchenko to remain with the Australian.

What This Means for the Blues

This extension gives the Blues stability in their bottom-six and rewards Walker for his consistency. As the team looks ahead, Walker’s two-year deal gives them dependable depth and grit in their forward group.

Main Photo: Terrence Lee- Imagn Images

The St. Louis Blues have signed forward Nathan Walker to a two-year contract worth $1.775 million, Doug Armstrong announced today.
