On Thursday, defenceman Marco Scandella<\/a> announced his retirement. The 35-year old has not played in the NHL since the 2023-24 season when Scandella was playing for the St. Louis Blues<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Scandella retires with 51 goals and 119 assists in 784 regular-season games, and six goals and three assists in 56 Stanley Cup Playoff games.<\/p>\n

Teams Played For<\/h3>\n

Scandella started his career with the Minnesota Wild<\/a> before joining the Buffalo Sabres<\/a>. Scandella helped the Wild upset the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in the first round in 2014. Furthermore, Scandella helped the Wild reach the second round the following year. Each time, however, the Wild were eliminated by the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During the 2019-20 season, Scanedlla was traded to the Montreal Canadiens. However, Scandella did not stay long in Montreal before being dealt again<\/a>, this time to the Blues. Scandella then signed an extension to remain with the Blues<\/a>, where he finished his career.<\/p>\n

International Play<\/h3>\n

Scandella represented Canada at the 2008 World Under-18 Championships, winning a gold medal. Again with Canada, Scandella won a silver medal at the 2010 World Juniors. Each time, Scandella recorded a goal for Team Canada.<\/p>\n
