That season, he was among Dallas’ best forwards with 65 points (25 goals and 40 assists). The veteran then re-signed with Dallas on a one-year, $3 million deal last July. He proved his worth again by scoring 30 goals and leading the Stars with 82 points during the regular season. While his goal-scoring touch disappeared in the playoffs, he was still one of the team’s most productive players in terms of moving the puck, playing a complete two-way game, and setting up his teammates.

Duchene had previously stated that he was considering a return to Dallas but also acknowledged that he is at a stage in his career where there are additional priorities for him and his family entering this round of free agency. Seems as though general manager Jim Nill was able to convince him to stick around and take another run at Lord Stanley’s cup.

Stars Bring Back Important Veteran Leader

Duchene is a veteran player who has been productive his entire career and can play all over the lineup.
