The 36-year old scored 41 goals in two seasons with the Wings. While Kane is not the player he once was, his time in Detroit shows he can still put the puck in the net.

Hall of Fame Career in the Windy City

While Kane had two good seasons with the Red Wings, all hockey fans know Kane as the legend with the Chicago Blackhawks. Kane scored 446 goals in 16 seasons with the Blackhawks. Kane scored 30+ goals in five of the seasons.

Alongside a core that included Johnathan Toews, Duncan Keith, and Marian Hossa, Kane helped the Hawks win three Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013, and 2015. By winning three Cups in six seasons, the Blackhawks established themselves as a dynasty in the NHL. No team has reached that level since. Kane was the Conn Smythe winner for the 2010 team, including the series-winning goal in Game 6 of the Final. Of course, no one else but Kane knew the puck went into the net.

New Teams, Same Kane

Kane was traded from the Blackhawks in 2023. While he worn different team’s sweaters since, the spirit of what makes Kane a legend has remained. He likely will not score 44 goals again, but he still has 20-goal potential, which is a big plus for the Red Wings.

At 36-years old, we never know when Kane may decide to call it a career. This newest contract may be the last one he signs. We do not mean to jump ahead in time. However, we are suggesting to enjoy it. Nothing lasts forever. Kane is a legend and a future Hall of Famer. We should enjoy seeing #88 on the ice while we can.

Main Photo: Tim Fuller- Imagn Images

A three-time Stanley Cup champion, a Hart Trophy winner, and future Hall of Famer has signed a new contract.
