The Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> won Game 1 against the Ottawa Senators<\/a> in convincing fashion and have their special teams to thank for their 6-2 victory<\/a>. Leading up to the opening contest for the Battle of Ontario<\/a>, there was a lot of hype. Almost all of the Senators’ lineup made their playoff debut in this game and were excited to get started. Sens captain Brady Tkachuk<\/a> said this in the morning of Game 1<\/a>. “Waking up today, I can\u2019t believe today\u2019s the day,” he said. Ottawa came out with lots of excitement, but throughout the game, they could not stay disciplined.<\/p>\n

Ottawa’s Parade To The Box<\/h2>\n

It all started in the second period for Ottawa. They took three minor penalties, some worse than others. Tim Stutzle<\/a> got the game’s first penalty just over four minutes into the second frame, boarding defenceman Chris Tanev<\/a>. Later, Ridly Greig<\/a> delivered a high cross-check on John Tavares<\/a>. As Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman put it, he could’ve been ejected from the game for that check.<\/p>\n
