He attempted to throw a hit on McCabe but was the victim of a reverse hit. Frederic appeared to injure his leg and would be forced to leave the contest.

Trent Frederic has registered 15 points in 57 games this season for Boston. This follows a career high 40 points last season, including 18 goals. The 27-year-old has 109 points in 337 career games, all with the Bruins. Frederic was drafted in the first round, 29th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

What the injury means

Trent Frederic’s name has been in trade rumours leading up to the March 7th trade deadline. He has been one of the most talked about targets on the trade block as of late. Despite his injury, there isn’t any change of plans expected in his trade status. The forward will be healthy by the time the playoffs roll around. As a result, he is still a solid depth add for any contending team.

With him being out week to week, Frederic has likely played his last game in a Bruins uniform. In his absence, youngsters Matthew Poitras and John Beecher can expect to see more minutes down the middle. The team is still in playoff contention and could make a move to add depth down the middle.
