Today&#8217;s prediction covers the game between the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/?s=st.+louis+blues\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">St. Louis Blues<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/?s=colorado+avalanche\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Colorado Avalanche<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">NHL Predictions<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">St. Louis Blues vs. Colorado Avalanche<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Time:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">9:00 P.M. Eastern Time<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">TV:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, Altitude Sports TV<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Blues and Avalanche are meeting for the first time this season. Last season, the Avalanche won three of four games. However, the game the Blues won saw two players, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/buchnpa01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pavel Buchnevich<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/schenbr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brayden Schenn<\/a>, recording a hat trick in the 8-2 route. The <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/blues\/news\/buchnevich-schenn-score-hat-tricks-in-same-game#:~:text=Buchnevich%20and%20Schenn%20are%20the,20%2C%201984.\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">unique feat<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> was just the third occurrence in Blues history. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gilmodo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Doug Gilmour<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/huntema01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Hunter<\/a> did it on February 23, 1986. Prior, Kevin LaValle and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/barrda01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dave Barr<\/a> combined for hat tricks on October 20, 1984.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Blues Story<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Blue Note\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">enter play on Friday looking to end a two-game losing streak. Furthermore, despite their <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2025\/01\/30\/what-january-tells-us-about-the-st-louis-blues\/\" target=\"_self\">inconsistencies this month<\/a>, they are looking to end January on a positive note. The team has not played since <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2025\/01\/27\/nhl-predictions-january-27th-st-louis-blues-vs-vancouver-canucks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Monday<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. As a result, it is hard to predict who the Blues may start in goal. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/binnijo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jordan Binnington<\/a> made a start on Monday and struggled, giving up three goals on 18 shots before being pulled in favor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hoferjo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joel Hofer<\/a>. Head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/montgji01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jim Montgomery<\/a> may go back to Binnington to give the veteran a chance to get back on track, but it is also possible that Hofer gets the nod.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">However, one thing we do know about the Blues lineup is it will not include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/saadbr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Saad<\/a>. <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2025\/01\/29\/st-louis-blues-continue-roster-shakeup\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The 32-year-old was waived on Thursday<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> for contract termination. The Blues moved to increase playing time for the younger players, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bolduza01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zachary Bolduc<\/a>. It is still unclear at this time how the forward lines will look. They have allowed three goals or more in each game. Furthermore, they have scored two goals or less in two of the three games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It has been a tough season for the Avalanche, a team many still consider Stanley Cup contenders <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/09\/07\/puck-drop-preview-2024-25-colorado-avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">heading into the season<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. However, the Avs have struggled with production from their roster aside from their top guys. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mackina01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nathan MacKinnon<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/makarca01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cale Makar<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lehkoar01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Artturi Lehkonen<\/a> have performed, but the same cannot be said for the rest of the roster. When the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 2022, they had a dangerous roster where anyone could light the lamp at any given time. If MacKinnon, Makar, and Lehkonen are not on the scorecard, then the Avs are likely not winning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prediction<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Two teams with different-looking rosters are struggling to maintain an identity. In this game, both sides may look to beat the daylight out of one another just to let out some built-up frustration. This may be a bit of an ugly game regarding physicality. However, it will also be a high-scoring game. The Blues are leaving with the two points.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Blues win, 5-4.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prop Bets<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The over\/under is set at 5.5 goals. We are taking the over with nine total goals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For anytime-goal scorers, we are taking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/necasma01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2025-01-30_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Martin Necas<\/a> to score a goal for his new team.
