Joseph spent the first four seasons of his career with the Penguins before joining the Blues this summer via free agency. Furthermore, P.O. joined his brother, Mathieu Joseph, who the Blues acquired via trade. While the brothers reuniting was a fun story, it ends rather quickly after just a few months.

The Blues are acquiring future considerations in the P.O. Joseph trade.

Both Teams Benefit from P.O. Joseph Trade

The P.O. Joseph trade is not a monumental one by any means, but it is one that benefits both teams. The Penguins have been dealing with injuries on defence. Bringing in Joseph adds depth to a team that definitely needs it.

For the Blues, they were dealing with a bit of a log jam on defence. Trading Joseph opens up more opportunities for defenceman like Scott Perunovich to play.

#77 is Now Available…to Retire Perhaps?

Joseph wore #77 while playing for the Blue Note. Blues legend and Hall of Famer Pierre Turgeon wore that number while he played for the Blues. Now that #77 is no longer being worn by a player, perhaps the Blues organization can make arrangements to retire Turgeon’s #77 and raise it to the rafters of the Enterprise Center. Turgeon is the best Blue to wear #77, and now that he is in the Hall of Fame, it feels like it is only a matter of time before his number is retired.

If the Blues do retire #77, that would make P.O. Joseph the final Blue to wear the number. Keep that in mind for future trivia questions, Blues fans! You never know when that knowledge might be useful.

Main Photo: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images

Pierre-Olivier Joseph is headed back to his old stomping grounds.
