However, the Sharks have had a better start to their season than they did in the previous year. Still not a successful record, but a slight improvement from last season. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is still work that needs to be done and areas that need improvement just like any other young team. One thing they have been great at is remaining inconsistent to win. Whether it is the constant changing of line pairings, injuries or trades, the team has not been able to find a successful rhythm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Time Changes Things in Win-Loss Record for San Jose Sharks<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sharks are 11-17-5 this season, an impressive jump from where they were this time last year. This season they are not the last placed team in the Pacific Division, yet things tend to change fast in the league.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last year, the Sharks had a record of 9-19-3 in December with 31 games under their belt. They were sitting dead last in the division.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are slowly becoming a team that is learning what it takes to win. It does help that they have an impressive roster that holds great skill and talent. Once they can find their footing, the sky will be the limit for them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The &#8216;Lund&#8217; Line Makes up top 3 Point Leaders on the Sharks Roster- yet their Performances are Lacking.<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/11\/26\/san-jose-sharks-centre-presents-dilemma-with-strong-play\/\" target=\"_self\">Mikael Granlund<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/08\/15\/san-jose-sharks-sign-2021-first-round-pick-william-eklund\/\" target=\"_self\">William Eklund<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/11\/28\/san-jose-sharks-rookies-make-impressive-impact-on-team\/\" target=\"_self\">Fabian Zetterlund<\/a> have remained consistent in the terms of being the teams points leaders. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Granlund ended last season with 60 points, Eklund ended with 45 points and Zetterlund with 44. As of now, Granlund has 32 points, Eklund has 25 points, and Zetterlund is at 22. Eklund and Zetterlund have been dropped to the fourth line and even benched based on their performances.<\/p>\n<h3><b>Inconsistency Seeping Into their Game\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>The Sharks gave up a lead in the third period at home against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/12\/14\/wild-card-surging-utah-hockey-club\/\" target=\"_self\">Utah Hockey Club<\/a>. Zetterlund was able to score in the third period, putting the Sharks in the lead. However, following his goal, the team seemed to give up as if the game were over. Instead of playing the game to win, they backed off and paid the price. Utah came back with a vengeance and scored two goals within ten minutes, giving Utah the win.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cody Ceci Postgame - |Sharks vs Utah Hockey Club| NHL| 12.14.24\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wj7JoSnvq7c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Defenceman <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/10\/10\/breaking-down-the-san-jose-sharks-roster-for-the-home-opener\/\" target=\"_self\">Cody Ceci<\/a> had a few comments on where the team needs to focus to grow. <\/span><em>\u201cNext step would be to get the killer instinct in the third and not be on our heels too much and try and survive games.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/10\/19\/sharks-rookie-off-to-an-unexpected-slow-start\/\" target=\"_self\">Head coach Ryan Warsofsky<\/a> had <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Lslx6aEcj8k\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">other thoughts on where the team has lacked<\/a>, <em>&#8220;We just stopped playing. We look for someone else to do each other\u2019s jobs, instead of just worrying about what our job is.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Sharks Shake Up Goal Crease<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Goaltending has had its good games, but has also had their share of bad gams. Prior to losing <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/12\/12\/sharks-make-multiple-changes-while-searching-for-a-win\/\" target=\"_self\">Mackenzie Blackwood<\/a>, the Sharks seemed to struggle with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/11\/18\/san-jose-sharks-vitek-vanecek-left-game-early-for-potential-injury\/\" target=\"_self\">Vitek Vanecek<\/a> in the net. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His inability to remain solid, block, and protect his goal has continued to be the pattern. While playing against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/09\/18\/tampa-bay-lightning-defenceman-named-captain\/\" target=\"_self\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a>, Vanecek allowed five goals in the first period before being pulled the rest of the game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/12\/12\/sharks-make-multiple-changes-while-searching-for-a-win\/\" target=\"_self\">Alexandar Georgiev<\/a> was traded to the Sharks for\u00a0 Blackwood. Georgiev has a impressive resume, yet this season hasn\u2019t been one he would have imagined. The 2024 All Star goalie has had a slow start as a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/09\/05\/nhl-rumours-projecting-colorado-avalanche-forwards-next-deal\/\" target=\"_self\">Colorado Avalanche<\/a>, which resulted in the trade that landed him in San Jose. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With one official game as a Shark, Georgiev has one win with 17 saves on 20 shots on net.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Alexandar Georgiev earns a win in his first game with the <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/SJSharks?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#SJSharks<\/a>, making 17 saves on 20 shots faced.<\/p>\n<p>Macklin Celebrini (2g, 1a), Nikolai Kovalenko (0g, 3a) and Jake Walman (1g, 1a) with multi-point efforts in the victory.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; San Jose Sharks PR (@SanJoseSharksPR) <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SanJoseSharksPR\/status\/1867412417116074014?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">December 13, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This is an area that will continue to go through development in order to improve. With a new goaltender to the line up, it might take time for him to adjust.<\/p>\n<h2><b>The Sharks Need to Find their Rhythm\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The talent within their franchise is exciting to watch and the future looks promising for despite the tough record for the San Jose Sharks. Yet, after 33 games played this season, they are barely making any strides in proving that they are serious about their abilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Sharks face the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2024\/12\/17\/nhl-predictions-dec-17-san-jose-sharks-vs-winnipeg-jets\/\" target=\"_self\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a> at home on December 17th before facing the Colorado Avalanche on December 19th.
