Each day,\u00a0Last Word on Hockey<\/em>\u00a0takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head matchups and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today\u2019s featured game is the Edmonton Oilers<\/a> vs Minnesota Wild.<\/a>\u00a0Be sure to check out more\u00a0NHL predictions\u00a0in the coming days as the 2024-25 season continues.<\/p>\n

NHL Predictions<\/h2>\n

Anaheim Ducks vs Toronto Maple Leafs<\/h3>\n

Time:<\/strong> 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)<\/p>\n

TV:<\/strong> Victory+; SNO; ESPN+<\/p>\n

We start off NHL predictions with the Anaheim Ducks<\/a> visiting the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>. Lukas Dostal<\/a> is the projected starter for Anaheim, but always check social media before locking in a fantasy starter. The Ducks are losers of three straight and 4-4-2 in the last 10 games. Troy Terry<\/a> is first or tied for first in goals (8), assists (13) and points (21).<\/p>\n

Joseph Woll<\/a> is the expected starter for Toronto, which has won seven of the last 10 games. The Leafs have gotten some good goaltending from Woll and Anthony Stolarz<\/a> in the last few weeks. William Nylander<\/a> is first in goals with 17, but Mitch Marner<\/a> is tops in assists (28) and points (38).<\/p>\n

Anaheim did look better on the backend with Jacob Trouba<\/a> in the lineup. However, it’s a tall order taking on a strong Toronto offence.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Maple Leafs win 5-2.<\/p>\n

Edmonton Oilers vs Minnesota Wild<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Oilers 0-1 Wild<\/h4>\n

Time:<\/strong> 8:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)<\/p>\n

TV:<\/strong> SN West; ESPN+; Hulu<\/p>\n

Our featured game has the Oilers visiting the Wild. Edmonton is coming in as winners of three consecutive games and is 7-3 in the last 10 games. Stuart Skinner<\/a> is the expected starter for the Oilers, who are slowly climbing back into being a contender. Evan Bouchard<\/a> has posted six goals and 14 assists for the Oilers. Leon Draisaitl<\/a> has been strong as of late with seven goals and seven assists over the last 10 games.<\/p>\n

Minnesota is coming into this game with a 7-2-1 mark in the last 10 games. Filip Gustavsson<\/a><\/span> is the likely starter and has a 2.08 goals-against-average coming into this one. Kirill Kaprizov<\/a> is putting up Hart Trophy numbers with 18 goals and 25 assists for the Wild. Youngster Marco Rossi<\/a> has five goals and four assists over the past 10 games.<\/p>\n

Both teams are coming in with good form. However, the Wild get the victory.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Wild win 4-3.<\/em><\/p>\n

Utah Hockey Club vs Colorado Avalanche<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Utah HC 0-1 Avalanche<\/h4>\n

Time:<\/strong> 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)<\/p>\n

TV:<\/strong> Altitude; Utah16; KTVD; ESPN+<\/p>\n

Our final game of NHL predictions has the Utah Hockey Club<\/a> taking on the Colorado Avalanche<\/a>. Karel Vejmelka<\/a><\/span> is the likely starter for Utah, which is 5-3-2 in the last 10 games. Dylan Guenther<\/a> is first on the team in goals with 10.<\/p>\n

Colorado is 6-4 in the last 10, but has taken the last three straight games. Mackenzie Blackwood<\/a><\/span> is the prospective starter for the Avalanche, who have done a makeover in the crease. Nathan MacKinnon<\/a> has 36 assists and 46 points.<\/p>\n

Both teams are doing well coming into this one, but Colorado keeps on rolling.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Avalanche win 4-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Prop Bets of the Night<\/h3>\n

We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the slate of games. We’ll go with our featured game for this set of side wagers. On the Edmonton side, go with Connor McDavid<\/a> to get the over on +1.5 points at 105 points at BetMGM<\/a>. For Minnesota, take Brock Faber<\/a> to get over 0.5 points at +135. This is also at BetMGM.<\/p>\n
