Each day,\u00a0Last Word on Hockey<\/em> takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head matchups and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today\u2019s featured game is the Minnesota Wild<\/a> vs Edmonton Oilers<\/a>. NHL Predictions<\/h2>\n

Colorado Avalanche vs Washington Capitals<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Avalanche 0-1 Capitals<\/h4>\n

Time: <\/strong>7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)<\/p>\n

TV:<\/strong> Monument Sports Network; Altitude; KUSA; ESPN+<\/p>\n

Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> visiting the Washington Capitals<\/a>. Justus Annunen<\/a> is the expected starter for Colorado, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Avs have been up-and-down with a 5-5 mark in the last 10 games. Nathan MacKinnon<\/a> is first assists (27) and points (34) for Colorado. However, Mikko Rantanen<\/a> is tops in goals with 12.<\/span><\/p>\n

Washington will roll with Logan Thompson<\/a> in net for this game. The Capitals beat the Avalanche, 5-2, less than a week ago. However, Alex Ovechkin<\/a> will be out of the lineup. Ovechkin was leading the league in goals before leaving against the Utah Hockey Club<\/a>. Players like Connor McMichael<\/a> have stepped up this season.<\/p>\n

The Capitals are still a solid team, but losing Ovechkin will hurt.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Avalanche win 4-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Utah Hockey Club vs Boston Bruins<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Utah 1-0 Bruins<\/h4>\n

Time: <\/strong>7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)<\/p>\n

TV:<\/strong> Utah16; NESN; ESPN+<\/p>\n

Utah will go with Karel Vejmelka<\/a><\/span> in goal as it tries to stop a two-game losing skid. The Hockey Club did beat the Boston Bruins<\/a>, 2-1, in the first meeting of the season. However, Utah is 3-5-2 in the last 10 games going into this one. Dylan Guenther<\/a> has slowed down after his hot start, but still leads the team in goals with seven. Clayton Keller<\/a> is tops in points with 16.<\/span><\/p>\n

This game will be the first for the Bruins since they fired<\/a> Jim Montgomery<\/a> and went with Joe Sacco<\/a> on an interim basis. Joonas Korpisalo<\/a> is the confirmed starter as Boston tries to turn things around. David Pastrnak<\/a> is first on the team in goals (8), assists (9) and points (17) for the Bruins.<\/p>\n

Expect Boston come out fired up with the new coach bounce and take this one.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Bruins win 5-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Minnesota Wild vs Edmonton Oilers<\/h3>\n

Time:<\/strong> 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)<\/p>\n

TV:<\/strong> SN West; Fan Duel Sports North; Fan Duel Sports Wisconsin; ESPN+<\/p>\n

Our final and featured game has the Wild visiting the Oilers. Filip Gustavsson<\/a><\/span> is the likely starter for Minnesota in this game. The Wild have been a pleasant surprise and are 7-1-2 in the last 10 games. One thing the Wild can hang their hat on is their top scoring defence that’s only allowed 2.33 per game. Kirill Kaprizov<\/a> is the team’s leader in goals (13), assists (20) and points (33).<\/p>\n

Edmonton is projected to go with Stuart Skinner<\/a> between the pipes. The Oilers are 4-5-1 in the last 10 games, but are coming off a victory. Connor McDavid<\/a> is first in assist with 15, but Leon Draisaitl<\/a> is tops in goals (14) and points (27).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Oilers do have some good scorers, but the Wild have been great on the defensive end.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Wild win 3-2.<\/em><\/p>\n

Prop Bets of the Night<\/h3>\n

We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets. Let’s zero in on the final game for our picks. Matt Boldy<\/a> is +190 at BetMGM<\/a> to get a goal for Minnesota. Draisaitl is +135 to get a goal in the game as well.<\/span><\/p>\n
