Both teams have been battling it out for the top seat in the Metropolitan Division standings all season. During their meeting in Carolina in October, the Devils fell 6-4 as the Canes won the first of their season. The Devils have been off to a good start this season. Despite the absences of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bastina01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nathan Bastian<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lazarcu01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Curtis Lazar<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hataksa01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Santeri Hatakka<\/a>, as well as the early season absences of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=hugheja03,hugheja02&amp;search=Jack+Hughes&amp;utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack Hughes<\/a> and Brett Pesce, they\u2019ve climbed from a point percentage of .548% at 21 games last season to .619% at 21 games this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Devils went 2-1 during their trip to the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018Sunshine State\u2019<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, managing back-to-back wins against the reigning champions of Lord Stanley&#8217;s Cup, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/panthers\/\" target=\"_self\">Florida Panthers<\/a>. The first game saw a 4-1 score, while the second game was a 6-2 stomp, featuring a hat trick from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brattje01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jesper Bratt<\/a>. However, in their last game on the trip this past Saturday, they were shutout by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/lightning\/\" target=\"_self\">Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hurricanes Story<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Carolina Hurricanes\u2019 improvement has been interesting to watch this season. Notably, when compared to last season. The second frame saw <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/poehlry01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Poehling<\/a> scoring in less than three minutes from the beginning of the period. Carolina Hurricanes goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kochepy01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pyotr Kochetkov<\/a> and Philadelphia Flyers goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fedotiv01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ivan Fedotov<\/a> both dazzled with some incredible saves throughout the game. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was a new game in the third period as both teams went in with one goal apiece. Before the game against the Philadelphia Flyers, head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brindro01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2024-11-21_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rod Brind&#8217;Amour<\/a> mentioned to the press that there is a chance he may meet the team on the trip.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NHL Predictions featuring Carolina Hurricanes at New Jersey Devils<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The New Jersey Devils have been rocking it throughout November, losing only three games so far this month. After having been shut-out by the Bolts, alongside 4 days of off-time and practices, they\u2019ll likely be fired up for a win against their long-time rivals. Meanwhile, the Carolina Hurricanes are on their second game in a back-to-back on the road, after having a back-to-back homestand over the weekend.
