The 23-year-old Swede has been an effective depth producer for the Canucks. Last season he established himself as someone who can be relied on to be a consistent scorer.

Moreover, in his four years in the league, he has 90 points in 221 career regular season contests. Then, last year, he was able to find good rhythm and found the back of the net 24 times. In 80 games, he ended up with 36 total points. All three of those stats were career-highs. In addition, he has proven his effectiveness in the matchup game, with a career CF% Rel at even strength of 3.5. All of this has culminated to him signing this contract with the Canucks organization.

What Does He Bring to Vancouver?

Hoglander is an invaluable player who can play up and down the lineup. His success last season was evidence of that fact. He can play in a more scoring role, as he did skating on J.T. His puck possession, skill level, and work ethic allow this versatility. Vancouver clearly identified this as an asset and will keep him around for a few more years. Both team and player are clearly exciting to be sticking it out for the foreseeable future.

Main Photo Credit: Bob Frid – USA TODAY Sports

The Vancouver Canucks have decided to extend their Swedish winger.
